Went out to Vegas for the CES show and was playing some $500 min/max buy-in $5-$10 blinds NL at Mandalay Bay. We were playing 5 handed and I bought in for $500 and had about $1,300 in front of me when this hand came up. I had K icon_suit_heart.gif K icon_suit_diamond.gif UTG and raised to $30 pre-flop the one weak player on the table re-raises to $60 everyone else folds and I re-raise to $200 and he calls.

The flop comes 10 icon_suit_club.gif , 6 icon_suit_club.gif , 3 icon_suit_club.gif . I needed to see where he was at so, I bet out $120. He pushed all-in for $680 total. Now 90% of the time I would lay this down. Just wasn't worth it for me to jepordize that much of my stack on that board. I bet my $120 for information and found out exactly what I needed to know. But, I came to the conclusion that he didn't have the flush and that he probably had a hand like Q icon_suit_spade.gif, Q icon_suit_club.gif or J icon_suit_spade.gif , J icon_suit_club.gif. But even still I was not getting laid the correct odds to call...

I ended up making the stupid call and he flips over 10 icon_suit_spade.gif , 10 icon_suit_heart.gif for top set. I was horrified....

It came running clubs and we chopped the pot. Whew.... That was a close one...

I almost never put myself in those types of situations but I'm glad it worked out for me once.

BTW I tipped the dealer $20.

You cheap bastard! In this situation you must tip at least one black chip (if not two...)

A lucky result to a bad call (whew!) We've all been there.
BTW, good form with the good tip: I would do the same.

Cheers,
