I have been reading strat posts for a while (like 6 months) and have finally decided to deposit $300 and see how/where it goes =). If my questions are dumb, I'm sorry, but since I don't have a lot of hands in PT, I don't know what my bb/100 is and I would like it to be as positive as possible!

14/7/3.88 over 325 hands

Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (9 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with A:spade:, K:spade:. MP3 posts a blind of $0.50. CO posts a blind of $0.50.
1 fold, MP1 calls, MP3 folds, SB calls.

Flop: (16 SB) 5:spade:, 4:heart:, Q:spade: (3 players)
SB bets

is this standardly standard?

Against a TAG on that flop, I'd usually just call. His range of three-betting hands is probably A-Q, A-K, AA, KK, QQ, and JJ

You sometimes might get a free card, but if you can get MP1 to call, then the hand become more profitable.

The raise isn't terrible by any means, but I'd prefer calling.

since this is the only interesting situation about the hand, i'd take edit your post to take away all the action after your flop raise. You'll get more honest replies.

Once you've raised the flop I usually cap it. It disguises our hand a little better if we hit our flush on the turn and on occassion we will get a free card.

What taints this thread is the fact that we know it got 3-bet after he raised.

I really dont mind him raising this flop. Sure calling might be a good option but if we raise/cap this if its been 3 bet we will get a free card pretty often if we miss.

If this pot is smaller or more multi way then it is definitely just a call. But the pots already 16 sb and our equity is decent.

I mean looking back I think this is about as straight forward a flop raise as they get considering we capped preflop.

This is exceptionally standard.

You are raising the flop to slow him down, possibly get a free card, increase your fold equity over him, and gamble on your outs.

9 nutty flush outs plus 6 somewhat clean overs plus position, this is an easy flop raise.

If 3-bet, I cap sometimes and not sometimes. If he 3-bets, I'm putting him on exactly QQ-AA. The cap sometimes makes AA and KK check the turn, giving us a free shot at the river with all those spade outs.

those are his stats, my stats are 22.4/10/2.43 over 1500 hands (my first 800 hands tho are from a while ago, and my aggression has been picking up with the last 700)
