Always wary when someone caps pf without already raising. Just not sure where I stand even on the flop usually.

Is there a specific question Zim?

I know what you mean about not knowing where you stand. This is kinda tricky but you played it right as far as I can tell. The villian never played back at you until you hit top set on the river. I think the three bet is still good on the river since he could have slow played a set, or AA, KK, in which case the three bet is beneficial. The only thing you lose to is the flush and it's hard to put him on that.

I guess there are many possible problems within the hand. I don't know if some would advocate calling the flop for some reason, don't know if some would just call the river, because I think AK of spades plays this the same way.
Tparks86
Yeah AK of spades probably does play it the same. But I think there are number of other hands that are also played the same that you beat, definitely after the Q comes on the river.

Also, we know after reading the hand that he would have capped the river wtih AK of spades...so it's kind of cheating for me to know that didn't happen.

This is incredibly standard, the flop is an easy raise for value and to see where you are at. I don't see why you wouldn't 3-bet the river either, I don't see why Ak of spades would play it this way, he'd have probably 3-bet the flop, I'm sure you'd have heard about it before the river if he had that hand.

do you fold to a c/r on the turn there?

Yes I do, but I sometimes think I fold too much to turn aggression.

It's read dependent for situations like this, but I think you're usually beat when check/raised here. However, the pot's already big and showing down an overpair to the board isn't the worst play possible. I would fold against certain opponents, but call down probably against a player I don't have many reads on.

there were definitely some hard decisions you could've been forced to in this hand if you got CR'ed on the turn, or the flop was played differently.
as it went, your play was definitely standard.
i don't think you should fold to a turn CR, especially with the Qs.

River three-bet's a little light.

good luck.
