I donked a bit and was left w/ 1.1k in chips at the 25/50 level

1 hand before the blinds go up to 50/100 I pick up AJo in the BB

last 3 positions limp, SB completes, I push.

I think Im usually picking up 250 in dead money here. This increases my stack by almost 25% which is pretty good imo.

I do this play very often in situations like this, and if I have a bit less chips compared to the blinds Ill sometimes do it w/ much worse hands.

Your 1.1k isnt going anywhere without help. Pushing with that many limpers is a standard play even with a full stack and any two cards, discussed in TPFAP I believe it was.

With your stack I would hope for a caller...AJo isnt a monster by any means but doubling up + dead money looks a lot better than dead money.

yea, I figured at most I was flipping a coin. With the occassional surprise call from AK or A10. But I figured its worth the risk.

Yes, still a push. Though your hand has probably gone from 60/40 against a caller to 40/60, the extra chips youre getting from the higher blinds when everyone folds is more than worth it.

I guess I disagree with this play, already talked to Prty about it. I guess I come from the more survivalist perspective on this one, but I think I would raise to 250, which would likely knock everyone out that an all in knocks out. I just don't think that the extra 200 chips are a giant help to us, and this isn't quite the stage where I'm willing to flip a coin for all my chips.

What hands that limped are going to call our all-in and be a coin flip against us? Nobody has shown any strength, so unless someone feels like their low pocket pair is good in this situation, you will get more folds than calls, and even if you do get calls, you have outs. I like the play, and as indicated in another topic in this forum, I use it when the situation dictates, which I believe the example given IS. 8)

I think 22-55 limp fold here. Someone might occasionally call but w/e its more of a bad call on their part than a bad push on ours. 66-88, I dont think should be limping in this situation, but they do on occasion. 66-88 I dont think should be calling here either, but again, they do on occasion. IMO, 250 chips gives you a whole level to wait for a hand, rather than have to go into desperation mode if you 1.- raise 250 get called and miss, 2.- check and miss. That, and the fact that you might double up I think make the play + EV
