Tell me why you cap on the flop.
Also give us a read on the 3-bettor.

Im not disagreeing or agreeing with you but I am curious to hear your logic on the flop 4-bet.

Read is that he's TAG, as noted by the stats.

I'm capping for value. I think he put me on overcards that missed when I raised to thin the field, and he 3-bets to tell me he has a piece of the flop. He is pretty aggressive post-flop so I'm pretty sure I have the best hand.

If that is your read on him, then why not call the 3bet on the flop and C/R the turn?

Because I have position and can't c/r? smile.gif

Seriously, there are a lot of scare cards (notably spades and aces) that can come on the turn and I'd hate to put in 3-bets on the turn if he raises vs the 2 if he c/r's me if one falls.

Oops. I misread the hand.

My point is, if you think he is making a move on the flop, call the 3bet and pump him up on the turn.

Capping this flop is going to result in the Villian checking the turn a lot. Which is bad for you because you are either A) losing a BB or cool.gif getting check/raised.

I don't hate capping the flop, but I think if your intention on the flop cap is for value, then it would be better to call the flop and raise his automatic bet on the turn.

Don't you think he leads the turn if you don't cap the flop?

Yeah, that's a valid point and I do use use that line frequently. Hypothetically, if villain 3-bets this turn are we folding?

That's the question I wanted to get to, because that's a tough decision.

Let me open PokerTracker.

i c/c after spade turn. probably don't fold river if spade comes, depends on the opponent

EDIT: i also missed our po. I would bet if checked to, but call down.

and yes, If the third spade comes and we waited for the turn to raise, only to get 3 bet, then i would fold.
