Hand just happened in the forum freeroll... I'm mostly a limit player.

Blinds at 150/300
Hero: 11,765
Villian: 6,283

Second hand at the table, so obviously no reads... Villian had min-raised the first hand, and did it again here. I get AdKh on the button.

2 folds, Villian raises to 600, 3 folds, Hero re-raises to 1200, 2 folds, Villian re-raises to 3000, Hero calls.

Flop: 10 icon_suit_spade.gif Q icon_suit_diamond.gif 2 icon_suit_club.gif

Villian bets 2,683 (all-in), Hero...?

I think I made the right play, but I'm not sure. Pre-flop critique is welcomed, as well.

when its reraised to 3k i think its either a fold or push all in. ure kind of left in limbo if u miss and he pushes.
i would put u on 7 outs (on average) on the flop. u still got an M of 17 if u fold (unless the blinds are about to change).

looks like AQ,JJ, KQs or at a shot AA,KK,AK. fold i would say.
tufat23
sorry M is 19.5. wasnt looking properly. if u call and are wrong ure M is around 14 which i would guess puts u medium stacked with the blinds moving fast (?) thats not a situation u like cos theres a high chance ure forced into a coin flip

only thing i can comment on is pre-flop raise is not enough.
if he raised to 600, you should raise to more than 1200. at least 1800 and probably more.

I'd put him on a premium hand like AA, or KK with his re-raise preflop. I would have just called his first raise, making it easier to throw away on the flop if you don't hit it.

9133 in the pot and its 2683 to call. We're getting 3.4:1 on our money.

We need to be good about 22% of the time here to make this a call.

Considering worst case scenario we have 4 outs and a 16% shot I most likely call. If we lose we still have around 6k chips but if we win we are pretty huge.

Min raises pretty much always suck for the most part. If your going to reraise here. make it bigger and after the reraise back at you, its push or fold time. Put the villian on a range of hands before you make your decision. What range did you have villian on??? IF you did this preflop and feel strongly about it post flop, your decision should be easy to make.

ditto on the pre-flop raise, however you did raise and got re-raised, so push or fold. You called, so I'd probably call now. He could be using a stop-and-go and have a range of hands between 77-AA, but more likely JJ-AA, but this is a free roll, he could have anything.

I called.

My thinking pre-flop was that he had a big pair, most likely JJ or QQ. I figured if i saw a K or A, I'd push all in (or call, since he pushed first). When the flop came like it did, and he insta-pushed, I figured that I now had the straight draw too, and I needed to start building a real stack if I was gonna make any money... if I call and lose, I'm still in decent shape, and if I win I'll be the chip leader in the tournament.

He showed JJ, leaving me with 8 outs (obviously the 2 J's weren't completely clean). Turn brought the 9 icon_suit_heart.gif , eliminating my 3 K outs... river was one of the A's, and I'm up to about 18k. Went on to finish 2nd.

Obviously I see it as a flaw that I just called his re-raise preflop with the intention of folding the flop if it didn't help... but then again, I didn't realize immediately that 70% of his chips were already in the pot. My NL game needs alot of work, I think. Thanks for the replies.

which freeroll was this?

When he reraies pre-flop and you realize he is pot committed your decision is easy. You are on the short-end of a coinflip (the rare times he will make this move without a pair are offset by the rare times he dominates you). You are clearly in push or fold territory.

Now you have to look at the stacks in the entire tournament and the prize structure and your chances of cashing/winning whatever your priorities are if you

Fold and retain your current stack
Win and boost your stack by his entire stack
Lose and drop down by his entire stack

Which is best cant be answered from the information given.
