Ok here are all the details of the 2006 Negreanu Open Season:

The season will be broken up into 4 separate quarters:

icon_suit_club.gif 1st period will begin January 11th and run through March 29th (12 weeks)
icon_suit_club.gif 2nd period will run April ? June
icon_suit_club.gif 3rd period July ? September
icon_suit_club.gif 4th period October ? December

The tournaments will continue to be held at 21:00 (9:00 EST) on Wednesday nights and the buy-in will remain $10+$1.

The tournaments will be held on the new fullcontactpoker.com and WILL NOT REQUIRE A PASSWORD (So yes this means you will never have to PM me again!)

The tournaments will be found in the main Tournaments lobby and will be labeled ?Weekly Negreanu Open?. Registration for each event will begin 3 Days (72 hours) before the event begins. It is important to note that you will only be able to access, register, and play in these tournaments through the FCP skin as none of the other Poker Room skins will have access to these tournaments.

As always there will be a leader board website that I will maintain (with the help of dabluebery and his most excellent Excel skillz). I will provide the new leader board website URL when the site is ready.

Points will be earned for every tournament played based on the standard TLB formula which is:

Points = 10 * [sqrt(n)/sqrt(k)] * [1+log(b+0.25)]

Where:

n is the number of entrants
k is the place of finish (k=1 for the first-place finisher, and so on)
b is the buy-in amount in dollars (excluding administrative fee) which is $10 in all of these tournaments

At the end of every leader board period the Top 9 FCP?ers with the most cumulative points will get their choice from the following two prizes (currently not even available for purchase I might add!):

A) A customized Fullcontactpoker.com Hockey Jersey (with the new FCP logo) with your FCP username on the back and personally autographed by Daniel Negreanu.

cool.gif A new Fullcontactpoker.com (with the new FCP logo) Chip Set with case autographed by Daniel Negreanu.

In ADDITION to getting your choice of the above prizes you will also gain entry into a 10 person SnG Freeroll where Daniel will be filling in 10th spot!

At the end of each quarter everyone?s points will be reset back to 0 and the exact same process will repeat for all 4 quarters in 2006 where you get to chose one of the prizes I mentioned above and also play in a private SnG with Daniel if you make the top 9.

Now that Daniel has his own site we have a little more flexibility with the promotions so we added a couple of cool new WEEKLY incentives IN ADDITION to the standard prize pool offered from the tournament itself.

1st place each week will receive an additional $50 in FCP Free Money.
2nd place each week will receive an additional $30 in FCP Free Money
3rd place each week will receive an additional $20 in FCP Free Money

Remember that Free money is like bonus money that is cleared 2:1 on the FCP site.

ALSO in addition to everything above everyone who plays in that weeks tournament gets their name thrown into a ?hat? for a random drawing for their choice of a FCP Hat or FCP T-Shirt. You could finish in last place, middle of the road, etc and still win this prize.

At the end of 2006 we will have 4 sets of top 9 points winners and those 36 individuals will be invited to play in the 2006 Tournament of Champions (TOC). If there are any duplicates in the top 9 from one quarter to the next we will take the next highest points leader until a full field of 36 is established. Daniel will also be playing in this tournament.

Since this TPC tournament is over a year away there could be some cool things come up through the year that we will add as prizes for the TOC winner, but for now it is certain that the winner will receive their choice of EITHER:

A) A one hour 1:1 phone coaching/consultation with Daniel Negreanu. You will have full access to Daniels brain for that hour and can even review hand histories with him if you like.

cool.gif A one hour 1:1 HU Online Poker Session against Daniel Negreanu where you will be able to play each other and chat real time, discuss hands, strategies, etc.

Again there will be a full website up in a week or so that will have full details including a FAQ page. I will put that link here when it?s ready.

I don?t know about you all, but I am VERY pumped for this season and am excited at all the cool prizes and opportunities here. I want to thank Daniel and Chris from his business team for helping doing all this, definitely very cool!

See you all on January 11th!

PS - For the 2005 TOC participants the tournament will be held on the new FCP site at 21:00 EST (9:00 PM EST) on Wednesday January 4th. I will be contacting the 18 people by private message. If you havent heard from me by this weekend go ahead and send me a message for the password.

Sounds good...

So, what's the over/under on the # of participants each week?

I say around 200... maybe even more. Especially if DN plays in a few of them. We had a max. of around 126 this past quarter... average of maybe 108... I think the average may push 200.
digitalmonkey
I'd say it may be more than 200 as anyone on FCP will be able to play even if they have never been to the forum.

$5 would be better

I'm not complaining about the glorious bounty of prizes we're being given, but out of curiosity is there a cash money prize for this SnG or is the prize the chance to bust DN and proclaim myself 2006 Player of the Year?

If I don't hear back from you I'll PM Dreamclown for help.

I'm sure there will be something, at the minimum I can guarantee $50/$30/$20 in FCP Free Money for 1st, 2nd, 3rd. We'll cross that bridge when it comes, its 12+ months away, i have a feeling there will be some cool things come up as options between now and then.

there better be some good prizes, cause all those entry fees are going to the site, they should throw back a nice cash for the final table

Sweet, every tournament from the last season, all the way through this season was on Stars.

Every single one of them.

Now, the most important one, the one with all the winners and the biggest prize is being moved to a different site.

Sweet.

That's awesome.

Makes a lot of sense.

Although I've done nothing to put together any of the tournaments and everyone has done a great job with everything regarding the Neg-O, I do agree with this, I think it would make more sense to have the TOC on stars and then move to FCP once this past year's NEG-O is finished with.

But thats just me. This is no complaint, as I've done none of the work going towards the tourneys, but I do think it would be easier to finish it off on Stars.

Yes, I should qualify my last post.

Setting the whole thing up, giving prizes and all that is awesome.

dna, DN and his team, and dabluberry for special mention...

Regardless, this is the last and most important tourn of the entire series, and it's odd to change the site.

I mentioned this a while back. I have no vested interest, but it only seems right that the final tourney should be on stars.

Then again, since when is life fair and right?

He with all the gold, makes all the rules.

Spade, you should stage a sit out.

You all make valid arguments about why this should be on Stars and although I agree that would be a good option this is already set up and done on FCP. I'm sorry if some people dont like it, you certainly dont have to play.

I am missing these 2 peoples FCP usernames to message the TOC password to - chrisrw109 and Blinkster (please contact me)

Randy Reed
Well, though I tend to agree with you guys on which site to play, the fact is it's the Neg Open and he's putting up the prize so it only seems right, especially considering the cool now plan for the upcoming year.

I would suggest trying to play some tourneys on the new site ahead of time. While playing in the freeroll last night I couldn't find things like the leaderboard that stars has or stats and the other things we're used to. Also the structure is a little different, with shorter times between rounds so we'll have to figure that stuff out as well.

Oh well, just look at it as a challenge and a true champion will make his way through it.
SQUIRRELBONE
Congrats on climbing the leaderboard to finish 2nd Randy. Since Spademan had it wrapped up so early, that is the spot we were all fighting for.

The tournaments will continue to be held at 21:00 (9:00 EST) on Wednesday nights and the buy-in will remain $10+$1.

What's the blind structure going to be like? I know a lot of people mentioned that last nights freeroll blind structure favored the donkeys rather then the real players.

Yes, I would like to know this as well. I liked the slow structure when I played in one when the site opened A LOT. Whatever the structure is, I can work with... I just don't like it being an all in fest right after the first break.

Yeah it feels more like a turbo then a regular tourney.

Once the website gets up there will be a link to all these type questions, but there are 3 types of blind structures, slow, normal, and turbo. For now I have asked the tournaments be set up to the 'normal structure which I believe is blind increases in 15 minute increments. This should allow for plenty of play and be very comparable to Poker Stars. If it turns out this becomes a card catching contest or everyone at the final table just has a stack that is a few BB then we can switch these to slow.

QUOTE (Jeff)

I think its limited to 2000 people, but we can change that if need be. To be honest I dont see much more then 300 people ever playing these, but I could be wrong.

OK, here is the normal structure for FCP:

12 minute levels:

10/20
15/30
25/50
50/100
75/150
5 min break
100/200
150/300
200/400
300/600
400/800
5 min break
500/1000
600/1200
800/1600
1000/2000
1500/3000
2000/4000
5 min break
4000/8000
5000/10000 - I'll stop here. That would be 3 hrs 24 min of playing

Here is PS's structure we had last quarter in the Neg-O:

15 min levels:

10/20
15/30
25/50
50/100
5 min break
75/150
100/200
100/200 25 ante
200/400 25 ante (would be 400/800 on FCP at this point)
5 min break
300/600 50 ante
400/800 50 ante
600/1200 75 ante
800/1600 75 ante (would be at 2000/4000 on FCP at this point)
5 min break
1000/2000 100 ante
1500/3000 150 ante (most tournies ended around here last period)
2000/4000 200 ante
3000/6000 300 ante
5 minute break

Even though we will have more players this upcoming period, I think the tournies will be shorter because of how the structure is set up. I do not have the structure for the slow blind levels. I know that they are comparable to the PS intervals even though there are no antes at any time. Every tourny on FCP I have been in that had the normal structure that I did not double my chips in the first hour, I was at all-in or fold mode.

I think it would be much better to have the slow structure as it would allow for more play for everyone that is not just all-in or fold.

In the old structure, the majority of all-in or fold started happening after about an hour and a half. In the normal FCP structure, it would be after an hour.

Just what I think.... we'll see how the first tourny goes, but I know I will still be saying we should switch to the slow structure after it no matter how well I do.

I'm upset my question was not answered. I'm BOYCOTTING the tournies until it is.
WKTSWAY
I THINK the slow structure on FCP is something similar to this:

15 min levels:

10/20
15/30
25/50
50/100
5 min break
75/150
100/200
150/300
200/400 (PS would be 200/400 25 ante, FCP norm would be 400/800)
5 min break
250/500
300/600
400/800
500/1000 (PS would be 800/1600 75 ante, FCP would be 2000/4000)
5 min break
600/1200
800/1600
1000/2000
1200/2400
5 min break

Again, this is probably not 100% accurate, but I think the big thing is 15 minute levels. I think that is a big difference.
wtfadam
Yeah I think the 15 minute blinds would be much more beneficial for the players. That also puts the same pressure on players after the first break inside the hour and a half mark. Skill will play much more of a part in it then just the hope and catch play.
