FCP 10-handed

Table is playing average. 23%VPIP.

I'm UTG with T icon_suit_diamond.gif 9 icon_suit_diamond.gif.

PRE-FLOP:
I limp, 5 folds, CO raises, 1 fold, SB calls, BB calls, I call.

FLOP (8sb): 2 icon_suit_heart.gif J icon_suit_diamond.gif 5 icon_suit_diamond.gif (4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, I check, CO bets, SB calls, BB folds, I call.

TURN (5.5bb): 9 icon_suit_club.gif (3 players)
SB checks, I bet, CO calls, SB raises, I call, CO calls.

RIVER (11.5bb): 3 icon_suit_club.gif (3 players)
SB bets, I fold

I'm mostly concerned with my turn line.

I can't decide.

I think I bet this turn in the hopes that CO goes away (it's a disaster if he checks and spikes a K to win the pot). I wouldn't even mind the SB check-raising if I knew we were heads up.

I think I would play the flop the same. I might go for a c/r on the turn if I think CO is full of it. I don't know, I guess I just don't like leading the turn personally.

no discussion on raising the flop?

If CO is full of it, don't you think he would check behind on the turn?

I usually mindlessly pump the pot when I have a flush draw. I'm starting to back of a bit lately.

For one, we don't really have an equity edge on this flop. If someone has a pair of jacks or better, we only have nine outs. If we hit our flush on the turn, our opponents may still outdraw us. The bd straight adds a bit to our equity, but not enough IMO to justify pumping this flop. It's close though.

If I had the ace high flush draw, I would certainly raise. That's because it's more likely my ace outs are good, and if I hit my flush on the turn, there are no redraws out against me. My equity with the ace high flush draw is much higher than the ten high flush draw.

If the pot were HU, I would certainly raise this flop to put pressure on my opponent. With 3 opponents, I would raise for value. With 2, I just call.

Fuck it.

I change my mind. I don't think we pick up enough equity by betting this turn to justify it, even if we lose the CO half the time, and the SB only check-raises like 1/3 times.

Take the free card, and hope a 9 comes off

on the flop, we have a bit of equity even against a pair of jacks and a diamond redraw - I CR here for equity.
on the turn i bet out, since I CR'ed the turn, so i've got fold equity, i have an equity advantage against two opponents if my flush draw is clean, and i may well have the best hand if my only caller is another draw.

assuming i've CR'ed the flop, the only bad scenario is if I get called against only the pair of jacks (which is probably the most likely scenario)

i think though if reads are such that you don't want to try to win this hand UI, i still CR the flop with probably a small equity advantage, and normally check the turn. if a 9 or 10 turns i probably bet the turn, to see how strong my 9s are.

good post. Especially about the flop play, screech. I dont pump the equity as much any more either. It gets 3 bet and heads up too much with aggro guys and a lot of the time the equity just isnt there.

On the turn, my first thought was "get to showdown". Do we really want him to fold two overs? They most likely arent any good because we have a flush draw.

I hate giving too much action with weak hands in pots that arent worth the fight. Check/call my way to millions, i guess. lol

It's funny. When I first started playing poker I would imagine all the worst possible hands my opponents could hold, and would play thinking they always have the nuts. Now I never give a pf raiser credit for anything. I always assume he has overcards. I need to find some middle ground.

I like the idea of check/calling this turn. I think sometimes I become so concerned with not giving free cards that I forget that it might help me to take them.
