The points the Ravens have tonight almost equals their season total if you add them up. Brett Favre just looks plain old. I'd hate for him to be remembered as another athlete who stayed too long, versus a guy that was one of the toughest guys to ever play QB.
too late...it's been that way with Favre for a couple years now. HANG 'EM UP!!
You know, we were having that conversation today heading into the stadium, at what point does Favre become equal to Cal Ripken. Having been in Baltimore it was painful the last few years to see that he wouldnt go away on his terms and that the game had begun to pass him by, add in the fact that he played several games at less than 100% due to the streak, and it seems as if Favre is going down the same path. An Icon to a City and Team that cannot afford to push him out, but are hoping that they do the right thing for the future before a move must be made.
Yeah, it is a good question. At least in baseball, Ripken is only one player on the team, while in football, Favre plays the most important positon and, if struggling, hurts the team much worse than Ripken did. That's why I would say Favre is hurting his team more than Ripken did. I mean, Favre doesn't "suck," but come on, Aaron Rodgers should CLEARLY be getting a chance to prove himself and Favre is throwing a TON of INT's....
Also, during the MNF broadcast, they were comparing the two streaks and,of course, Madden said Favre's streak was more impressive for some lame reason like "in football you get hit and can get injured. " How retarded can you get, acting like in baseball there are no injuries...what a douche. Yeah, in football you get hit harder, I fully respect that, but there is a BIG difference between 16 games and 162, and the wear and tear from a full baseball season probably makes up for the high impact hits you take in football.
In conclusion, Favre needs to retire as the great QB that he is, and I hate John "Fatass" Madden.
