Interesting hand from PP $1/2 NL
Hero UTG Call $2 with Jh 9d
Villain MP (raise $2)
BB calls $2
Flop 8h 10c 7c
Hero bets $7
Villain raises to $14
Hero re-raises $40
Villain raises to $125
Hero raises to $310.70 and is all-in
Villain calls
Turn Qh
River Kh
When he min-raised before the flop and then raised the flop the min. I thought for sure he had QQ-AA. When he re-raised to $125, I thought he must have trip 10s or my same hand. When he called my all-in re-raise, I thought we had the same hand and he might have J9c.
Would you have played this hand differently? The bettor is showing strength. I am inclined to think, simply calling the re-raise on the flop, and then seeing the turn not make a flush possible would've been the more conservative play. I really want to control variance for now, is that how you would've played it?
One other factor. I had seen this guy recently call a $100 all-in with A8c and win. He was obviuosly in the mood to gamble and was up about $500 at the time. He left immediately following this hand.

Were you going to fold if the board paired? He couldn't have trip jacks on that flop (I assume you meant 10's)
The only hands you are afraid of are flush draws, sets, or 2 pair. If you think you could lay down the straight if a scare card hits, calling the re-raise isn't a bad idea. Your money may be going in no matter what here, and there is still fold equity for him after you put him all in (assuming you had equal stacks).
P.S. don't post results right away... let people discuss the hand without knowing the villian's hole cards...

Would I have folded if the board paired or a club fell? I certainly would've considered it, if he had moved in on me. On the turn, I would've bet half the pot, no matter what card came.
Yes, trip 10s.
I edited the hand to allow for discussion.

I see. This was a 6-max table with 5 players. You have to play a lot of hands. When he min-raised pre-flop, I put him on two big cards or a big pair, and was really hoping to hit the flop hard. I thought I could win a huge pot if I did. I did both. My question is, given J9, let's say it was unraised to you in the BB, would you play it differently? I assume you would not fold pre-flop and you would play if you flopped the nuts.

You have no opinion on how the hand played out, b/c you would never be involved in a pot with J9? Would you have just gotten it all-in on that flop or would you have called the raise or re-raise and seen the turn before committing all of your chips?

Eh.
I likely get it in on the flop if I can.
All the turn can do is hurt you, and I don't want him to catch a hand like, two pair, or a set, or a bigger straight draw where he might call and break me off.
