I can't get to sleep so I thought I'd post this hand from a short little session I played earlier. I think I played it fine except that the river has me perplexed. I'm just not sure I can fold with the odds I was getting.

First hand at the table so no reads.

The more I think about it, I think this is probably a fold, especially since I'm having to overcall 2 people with top pair no kicker, but I do think that it's possible my hand is best on this draw heavy board and I'm getting great odds.

Hmm... I think it's ok to err on the side of calling here. If you are behind, you lose 1 bet, if you fold, and you are ahead, you lose upwards 15. I don't know if your hand is good enough of the time though. I still err on the side of calling. Of course that could be one of the many leaks in my game.

I don't raise the flop.

edit: but I cap it.

I agree in that I think the flop is a clear equity cap. I also like raising here for several reasons...equity, possibly fold the A icon_suit_heart.gif or K:heart: in case we hit our flush on the turn, possibly even buy the button and a free river card. I dunno though, I play very aggressively with these kind of drawing hands and it's entirely possible that I'm spewing on some of them.

Raising this flop for equity only works if you have a bunch in for one already. You're making 7 opponents face 2 cold, and some of them will fold, actually reducing your equity. You could end up heads-up with this raise which would definately be -EV. I can buy wanting A or K to fold, but if they're suited they dont fold, and if they're off, you have a big edge over them anyway. I cant see me ever raising this flop.

I think you have to call the river. I would just so I can sleep at night.
