Hey guys again;
ive started playing .5/1 and 1/2 limit HE exclusively, and wanted to get hold of some good reading material. NLH is a fishs game online, and i find LHE is doing well for me, because of the thinking involved and the fact that action junkies (aka fishes) dont like limit betting. i looked at one of the books at chapters (canadian bookstore) today, but it was blah. Super/system has some great advice from the Owl (bobby baldwin). i was looking for an exclusive limit book.

Winning Low Limit Holdem by Lee Jones will teach you to beat low limit games. Small Stakes Holdem by Ed Miller will show you how to crush them. I'd read both but start with WLLH.

Based on the emboldened words, I'm gonna go ahead and suggest you read any- and everything you can get your hands on, son.

Read the following books, in this order:

Theory of Poker- David Sklansky (Teaches you to think poker good)
Small Stakes Hold'em- Ed Miller (Teaches you to kill crappy loose games)
Theory of Poker- (Yes, again)
Small Stakes Hold'em- (Yes, again)
Hold'em for Advanced Players- Sklansky/Malmuth (teaches you how to get better at hold'em)

get it off of half.com, they have any poker book you could want and its pretty cheap. you can also get it if you have enough fpp on stars, but that may take a while at those stakes

Here's a few hints:

1) Stop complaining for no reason

2) Stop wishing your opponents would NOT play poorly

3) He was getting like 10-1 on the flop to chase a gutshot. He would've been WRONG to fold.

chasing a 4 outer isnt necessarily the safest route to money making.
otherwise, yoiure right!

Here's math.

If there are 10 bets in the pot, somebody bets into you, and you have 4 outs, should you call or not?

4 outs/47 unknown cards = 1/11.75. OR 10.75-1 to make your hand on the next street.

The pot is giving you a price of 11-1, meaning you make a slight profit by calling, even when you don't make a single bet (not to mention a likely 2-3) when you catchup.

Stop thinking of it as "chasing a four outer." This is important.

i dout .5/1$ limit players are that good to lknow this.

First off, it's not really complicated. It's very basic pot odds...

Secondly, that doesn't matter. Whether he knew it or not, he played the hand just fine after the flop.

Thirdly, I'm trying to do a small degree of educating so YOU know.

Fourthly, when I started playing, I knew all of this. So did most everyone else I knew who played .5/1.00. It's tough to apply at first. Learn pot odds. It's helpful/the easiest way to win

Not gonna tell you that you're not legit.

But take it from a vet: based on some of the things I've seen from you, and from your posts, you might just be on a bit of a heater.

6-max is a tough game. Just don't want you tossing away money you can use to learn. Don't think you're a superstar just because you're winning 20 bets an hour. Trust me: it don't last.
