hey guys, jsut won a heap off fpp's on stars (6000) and im looking to invest in a poker book or two. Which books do you recomend from there list- the familiar sounding ones include internet poker by kreiger, psychology of poker by schoonmaker, theory of poker by sklansky- as well as a few other sklansky books- im told his works are very good. Also there is low limit holdem by lee jones, tournament poker by tom mcevoy, and internet holdem by hilger.... which do you think i should go for?

I only noticed because I thought it was Slansky for about 5 years before I realized it wasn't.
I'm dyslexic though, so I have an excuse.

Man, you guys are all on Sklansky's nuts! Relax a little.
Yes, his books are good... some of them. I'm reading Theory right now, so far so good.
Pick up Harrington on Hold'Em if you play tournaments. By far better than anything tournament related out there. I just finished it and I can't wait to see vol. 2
Small stakes hold em if you're into lower limits.
Psychology of Poker isn't bad either.
Super System 2, which I just got... haven't read it yet though. I'm sure it's great though.

harrington on hold em is incredible (probly the best tourney book ive ever read).... so is ss2 (the limit hold em and PLO sections are all ive read so far).. but he is asking about books that he can get thru pokerstars.....
slansky is simply the best that stars offers

Ahh, ok... Well then yeah. Get Theory, Small Stakes and umm... Psychology is decent... I think other people liked it more than me, but ah well.... It wasn't as psychological as I would've liked. Caro's theory of loose wiring did more for me, and it was like 2 sentences long.
Pick up Harrington on Amazon... I paid like $20 or something for it.... I'd pay double now that I've read it. My tourney game was improving just before I read it, and it basically gave me reasons for the things I was starting to do anyway... It was a huge help. Now I have to wait for Daniel's book so I can start playing like a crazy and winning everything.

I just started Super System 2, and went straight to Daniel's chapter on Triple Draw. I'm giving it a try on UB, and having a blast with this game. Anyway, it's a bit off-topic, but Daniel's chapter is well written, so you should get SS2.

I like T.J.'s Championship No limit/Pot limit.....If your used to reading sklansky, it is definitely less analytical and more about feel/things he will do and won't do in situations....Entertaining

There is an omaha high book by stewart reuben. Its a bunch of quizzes of hands that he played. Its allright, there is very little on PLO. I think Daniel should give us a PLO book...hint hint daniel(lol)

I think TJ's book sucked. It didn't have much good information whatsoever. Especially when you compare it to Harrington's... It's a peice of crap.
What has TJ won in the last 5 years? Harrington at least has a crapload of money finishes in the biggest tournaments in the world. TJ is another Phil Hellmuth... He did great in the old days and doesn't know how to adapt to the new players. They were both left by the wayside.
This isn't directed at the person who said they liked TJ's book... But just giving my opinion on it... But seriously... Read Harrington's.

More importantly how do you win points on stars, was it a fpp tourney or something, or did you grind it out to get them..

yeh, it was a fpp tourney. played in a fpp sattelite to an ept event, then unregistered from the tier 2 event to claim my points.

Yeah in Razz.... with the 3rd lowest prize pool in the whole wsop. Meaning he didn't have to beat all that many people... and who plays razz anymore, lol.
