I've been playing in a poker league with my regular home game crew, and I find myself playing well enough to finish in the points but not getting knockout points.

I would classify my playing style as tight/agressive (but not "over the top" agressive). The crew I play against has few bluffers. So I almost always have to respect a pre or post flop bet and raise. And unless I have a better than average hand, I rarely pay to see 4th and 5th street.
Is there any way you guys think I can increase my knockout point totals without jeopardizing my point standings or finishes?
The knockout points are becoming more critical as the league play progresses to the eventual final table.
Any insight you can provide, or if I need to provide more information to facilitate analysis, please let me know.

In my opinion, the scoring system is totally gay. That 30 points for eliminating a player is just ridiculous. You shouldn't be playing to try to eliminate players, you should be playing to win. If you eliminate somebody along the way that's great, but you ought to be able to just play your game and try your best to get into the final two, at which point you only have one person to eliminate. I think TJ Cloutier said it best when he said that you only have to eliminate one person to win a Tournament.

In other words, I think the knockout points are incredibly dumb and you shouldn't be playing expressly for them. I think your best strategy would be to try to talk the league into eliminating knockout points all together. Here's a great example you can use to explain how stupid the knockout points are: Let's say you have AA and you entice some donkey to get all-in with you and he's got something 88 or whatever. He has you outchipped by say, t100 or so. You win the hand and the next hand he's all-in in the BB (there are 4-5 people left) you aren't in a blind and find 72o, so you fold. Somebody else eliminates our friend and gets the knockout points...Gay.

As far as real advice goes, I guess the only real thing to do would be to try to get it all-in any time you're in a hand with someone you have outchipped and you think you may have the best hand. In other words, you'd really have to take more chances I think.

Man, I really appreciate your insight. The point system was not conceived by me, however, it kinda adds to the trash talking aspect of our games, makes for interesting banter.
That being said, your advice on isolation play against shortstacks seems a sound approach. When I look back at some of the play of those in front of me (point wise) that is a tactic that they employ frequently. I will remember this and implement this strategy when I can. Thanks again.
