If you or someone you know has been infected with one bet syndrome call your local physician immediately. This fundementally flawed play is spreading like a disease, and millions are being infected. Two years ago when I started to play online poker the one bet was on the DL, no one really used it. For those of you unfamiliar with the one bet it is when you bet 1x BB the entire way through the hand or raise one over preflop constantly.

Coping with One Bet Syndrome. - I can honestly say the toughest thing to read in the entire world is the one bet. It is the play that tilts me the most and drives me insane. It is the most unlegit of all plays. The absolute worst form of passive. The key to defeating this terrible play is to identify what each person's one bet means. You have to watch them hand after hand and label exactly what it means. You can either determine people one bet weak hands, like ace high or low pair, or insanely strong hands like the nuts, or 2 pair etc.
You should also label if people one bet draws and what kind of draws they bet. The key to destroying this nonsense is identify its meaning.

This brings us to the worst form of One Bet Syndrome, the bet one / call any tactic. Players often 1 bet then get raised call that gigantic bet then bet 1 again. The most annoying play of all time. You have to regulate one players immediately, dont let them get away with this shannigans. People who use the one bet for strong hands are not playing poker for any of the reasons all of us do. They barely overcome the rake using this style and pots where normal people would bust people they win a mere 10 bucks. This is a play I will never understand when it used in that situation. How can you not get paid in miracle situations , these people must be content making 6 dollars off quad aces vs quad kings. (not that this would happen but you know what I mean).

So if you are in a room with frequently one betting, identify each players one bet significance, they take appropriate measures. Some tables are entirely calmed by the one bet be sure that is not you. You must raise the one bet to find where you stand and don't let people get free cards from this. Attack the one bet with all your soul and use it to your advantage to draw to insane things are bet out at these people when you hit something, cause a lot are users of the bet one / call any tactic. Anyway I am done rambling.

Help stop one bet syndrome today.......

I usually assume it means a check, and play accordingly. In other words, if I would check behind then I check. If I want to pirce out a potential draw, I raise the correct amount. I actually like one betters becuase they never should win in the long run due to their poor style. If they let me draw cheaply, then I take it.

Good example. I have Ax suited and flop a flush draw. If mister one bet massively underbets the pot, I am happy to draw cheaply. Then I can put him to the test if I make my hand.

I think it is easy to play against people who play that predictably. It is harder to play against the more predictable TA who bets 3 times the BB and then follows with a continuation bet. I don't know what he has either, but it cost more to try to challenge him.

I love these people. They make me laugh. They'll bet $1 into a $30 pot then later will do the $50 jam in a $2 pot. The former is great for me though: often gives me great odds to call. Plus I'd guess 85% of the time it's a semi-bluff (or possible stone cold bluff) so I feel free to raise with nothing. Like you said though, I do find out first: for some the min. bet means weakness, others strength. Yes I'm sometimes frustrated at those who min. bet with TPTK, but the money I make from drawing and connecting is more than I lose with these passive fish.
