Hey everyone,

I'm just getting back from my 2 month sabaticle from Poker. One of my client's is taking me to Vegas with him next month. All hotel expenses paid, all meals paid, and all I have to do is come up with my air fare. Wooohooo.

I have been to Vegas once but it was before my poker playing days. I mostly play in a local poker room in Dallas and play online as well. I mostly play $1/2 NL or the new game in town $1/2/5 (5 being the bring in bet).

I've done very well at the NL tables and wanted to find out where the best $1/2NL and $2/5 NL cash games were in Vegas. I heard the Bellagio had a $2/5 NL game with a $200Max buyin? Doesn't that seem a little low of a max buyin?

Anyways, I will be there for 3-4days. Any recommendations on bankroll and buyins for each game would be greatly appreciated. Its great to be back!!!!

BreadWinner, I had my first trip to Vegas last month and found the games at the Mirage to be very good.

They have 2 NL games running, both with must move tables. They have the 1/2 $50-$200 buy-in and the 2/5 $200-500 buy-in. I played the 2/5 three times and tripled up all three times. From what I could tell, there was usually no more than 2-3 locals in each game I played and the rest were all tourists. This made the game very good and also very tough at the same time. The locals usually played well as this was probably their primary source of income while the tourists were quite loose. Loose being good and bad. One hand I had AK and raised the pot to 30 and got one caller. The caller was from a player I had pegged as a bad player from the start and was on his 3rd MAX buy-in. Flop came A-4-9 Rainbow. The bad player checks, I bet $50 into the $60 pot. He calls. Turn is a 10. He checks, I bet $150 into the $160 pot. He calls. River is a 4. He checks, I bet $200 to which he re-raises me another $200. At this point I have to call of course because I couldn't put him on anything and really didn't think he would call with the 4, unless he had A4 suited. Well, turns out he had 7 - 4 OffSuit! I know in his mind he honestly thought he had the best hand all the way and there was really nothing I could do. Thankfully he continued to play this way as did several others which allowed me to stay ahead for the session. So like I said, the bad play is both a positive and a negative. Good Luck!

When exactly are you going to be there?! I will be making another trip to Vegas December 19-23.

Wynn has great no limit games. They start with a $1/$3 no limit. It has a $100.00 minimum buy in and no max. They use $3 chips which takes, oh I don't know, mathematics to play with. You hear some complaints from first time players with those chips, but it really helped with the action of the game to be honest. Wynn also spreads a $2/$5 no limit game that has a $200 minimum and no max. This is also a great action game. The best thing in my opinion is they are not must move games. You stay where you begin unless you don't like the game, then you simply ask for a table change. Next Wynn has a $5/$10 no limit game, that has a $500 minimum and no max. Talk about an action game. The only thing is I wouldn't sit down with less than $1500-$2000. There is some money on the tables. Occationally we spread a $10/$20 no limit, but it just depends who is there.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I am sooo stoked to go I can't even think straight. It looks like we are going around the 2nd week of December. I plan to play a session at Bellagio just because I've heard how nice it is and then check out the Mirage and Wynn.

I've been to Vegas before but it was before my poker playing days and I was only there for a day. I plan to do some site seeing during the day, maybe go see Binions etc...then play all afternoon-night granted I don't go broke laugh.gif

Well I wanted to post an update on how my trip to Vegas went. This is a long post but has good details on some NL games/tourneys for you Vegas virgins.

Day 1: I played at the Bellagio's 2/5 NL game and net + $150.00
I saw a ton of pros playing at Bobby's room and walking through the poker room. It was awsome to see all of them playing right there in the flesh.

Day 2: I started off by playing at MGM because I heard the game was soft there. I played about 3hrs and net +$350.00. The game there wasn't exactly soft but beatable. After I grabbed some dinner I went to play at the Wynn's 2/5 NL game. I sat down and the 2nd hand I'm dealt 9-7 hearts. Flop is 9-9-7. I slow play it and run into someone with A-9 who bets it aggressively. I made $300.00 on the hand. After the session was over I ended up netting + $600.00. The Wynn has an awsome poker room and not only that there were several rich fish at my table. You must play at the Wynn when you get the chance. Day 2 total net +$950.00

Day 3: I started off the day by playing a $60 + 40 rebuy tourney at Aladdin. The poker room sucks in my opinion but the tournament structure wasn't bad. 3000 in chips if you did the rebuy at the beginning blinds at 25-50. I made a donkey move on a blind steal and lost most of my chips. net -$100.00
After dinner I headed over to the Bellagio for the 2/5 NL game. After playing great all night I end up loosing nearly my entire stack after my broadway rainbow straight gets runner runner flushed. net -$300.00

Day 4: I head over to the Wynn with the intention of playing 2/5 NL but notice a ton of people entering the $300.00 + 30 freeze out tourney. There were 130+ players entered so I decided to enter with 5 minutes to spare. To make a long story short I play the best tournament poker of my life and make the final 4. I was the short stack at that point but the other players came up with the deal. We took about $1500 from first place money (which ended up being $11K)and 2,3,4 money was chopped to us evenly ($5,500 each). 4th place would have paid $3500 but being short stacked the deal worked out great for me. After 9.5hrs of playing I net +$5,000 after tipping the dealers about $200 and deducting the entry fee. After celebrating with my friend/customer who brought me to Vegas I was pretty drunk to say the least laugh.gif After taking my $5K stack of hundreds to the safe in my room I bring a about $500 to the Bellagio drunk off my @ss laugh.gif and play the $2/5 $200 buyin game. After portraying a loose/drunk style in the beginning I tighten up and get called down the entire night. I net + $400 for the session. Total day 4 net + $5,400

Day 5: We are leaving for the airport at 4:30pm and I didn't play any poker that day because I was mentally exhausted from the tourney oh and hungover like a motha. I did however bet $150.00 on BLACK at the roulette table on the way to the airport and won then let it ride and won again laugh.gif I took my $600 and cashed out. Day 5 net +$450.00

Total trip net profit + $6,650.

This was by far the best trip I've ever had. I learned a so much from the tournament and gained a lot of confidence.

Anyways thanks for reading this long @ss post and thanks to all of those who recommended the Wynn, it was very good to me.
