I swear I used to know how to play NL holdem. I took a 3 month break about 1 1/2 months ago and I still feel like I'm relearning a lot.

1/2 NL $310 on me

I have Q 6 o in the BB

5 limpers including me

Flop: Qc Ts 7s pot = $9

I check
checked around
LP bets $11
SB folds
Hero ?

I decided to fold and just move on to another hand. If he has a flush draw he might have overs on me and I'm out of position, too.

What do you think ?

I don't bother with situations like this....i hate knowing i may have to call 2 more bets with such a crappy hand, where almost any card on the turn or river is big scare card.

I try to stay away from losing big pots with such horrible hands, especially when it cost you nothing to see the flop.

Remarkably easy fold.

If you just came to the table, then I guess you can go ahead and fold, but a lot of players at the 1/2 level will bet just over the size of the pot on the button only as a bluff. If you've seen him do that a couple times already when he's last to act, then go ahead and call him down. If the draw hits, give the "hesitate and then check" like you hit your hand but you want to check-raise. If he gives a big bet after the draw hits, go ahead and fold.

Am I the only one here who takes a stab at the pot right out of the gate here. I would bet something like 7-10$. if you get raised then you can let it go easy. You may take it down from there. If you get a call you may be well ahead and you can play cautiously from there but i dont think you can check fold everytime you hit top pair. I know your kicker is horrible and your first to act but I think you have to try and take these pots every now and then.

I'd probably take a stab at this about half the time. somewhat scarey board and BB can have any two cards at this point. probaby 35-40% of the time i'll bet fold. If i get called i'll check fold.

I agree with you here. I woudlnt try it everytime but many times I am betting out here. Less on the internet but live i feel like I can get a good enough read that I am betting this around 75% of time. Problably like you said though only about 40% over the internet as I play much tihgter

I'm not so sure betting out in EP is a good idea because I find that I get raised so often on these tables. If I get called or raised, then I either have to check the turn or fold and I just wasted money.
