DECKtheRIVER
Well I screwed up last night and went out in 12th. I built a nice stack early then was on the bubble of every money level until I made it back to average with 12 players left. I had AA on the button with one limper and I raised my 50,000 stack to 16,000 and the limper and the button called. The flop was rag rag q and the button bet 12,000, call, and then I move in. The button folds and the limper calls. Well guess he had QQ WRONG 99 that’s right 99. So great I have 11,000 with 3000-6000 blinds.
Three hands later this happens, but just a little info on the guy I just doubled through, in the second hour he had a nice stack and called an all in with 77 from the BB with a limp-raise- reraise then he call the reraise (all-in). Well the reraised had KK and he rivered his 7. So now I have QQ on the small blind
And I screw up (I THINK---let me know and don't sugar coat it) the guy makes it 24,000 from middle posisition and I just called. This is where I think I let this guys play let me fall asleep because I knew he would play a mid pr till the end. Flop 236 I check he bets 30,000 I raise to 10030, and he moves in. My friend is sitting beside me and I say F*&* the son of a B*&(h has KINGS (THEN I CALL). Well of course he has KK and I’m out in 12th.
OK here is what I would normally do in this situation but didn't against this guy. When he makes it 16,000 pre I would normally re-raise to 75,000 leaving me with 180,000. Then if he moves in I can lay it down if I believe I am beat. If he just smooth calls and this flop comes I would have moved in and lost anyways. WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE IN MY SPOT AND JUST HOW BAD WAS MY PLAY. I’m making a nice consistent profit online but with only a few wins. Hands like this are where I need to improve my game/decision making. If this happened early in a $10 I go broke every time but the play is just better towards the end and I step up my game. Thanks for the help. My pokerstars name is "Hussell" by the way.

Were the blinds still 3000/6000?

What was the size of his stack? I'm guessing you were around 250,000?

Did he raise it 24,000 0r 16,000 pre-flop?

What did you the raise on the flop?

EDIT: Also, how was your stack compared to the other stacks at the table? And what's the payout structure?

yes the blinds were 3-6 and he made it 24 total and i called pre, then the flop came out and i think he bet 30 and i raised to 130 total, leaving me with 100. I had an average stack and he had me covered by 30,000. 18-10 got 170 and first was 4 grand. 9th was around 270 i think. 1 NOTE: final tables don't mean much to me anymore i play to win now. I use to just be happy with final tables but now they are a dime a dozen but i only have 4 wins and 10-12 second/thirds. I need to start winning more because that is where the money is. Im happy with my play untill this part. I only lost 3 hands at the showdown the whole tournament. QQ when i went out. MY AA vs 88 against my big stack vs short stack early. QQ vs A3 when i floped a set and she hit a flush draw. I bet the pot (half her stack and she re-raised in and i called) she won. I made a few plays and let them go when I got re-raised but not many and i made 2 great folds of top pr on Blind vs. Blind hands. One show and one tell from them and i know i made a very good laydown.

You should have definetly raised pre-flop. 75,000 sounds about right. Chances are he would have re-raised you and you could call or fold. The point is, that on the flop you'd have more information about his hand, and could read his all-in as actual strength.

On the flop you're raise to 130,000 seems like too much. You could easily raise it to 75,000-90,000 and be left with somewhere around 125,000-140,000 when he moves all-in. You MIGHT have been able to lay it down, since you had a good read that he had KK.

With the blinds at 3000/6000 even a stack of 125,000 still gives you some room to make moves, and judging by the way the villan plays you could have gotten your chips back by outplaying him.

(BTW - I would go broke on this hand 90% of the time (I'm not saying this is an easy or even a good fold), I just prefer not to commit so many chips on the flop so I don't feel like I needlessly forced myself to feel pot commited.)
