.50/1 NL

I have $90

I raise 3.50 preflop
two callers, LP and SB

LP just sat down and is 19 % /1 and very aggressive postflop

Flop: Td 8h 7c pot= $12

SB checks
I bet $9
LP calls immediately
SB calls

Turn: 5c pot = $38
SB checks
I bet $25 (didn't want to show weakness, right ? )
LP calls immediately
SB folds

River: Ad

I check
LP checks

LP shows KK

Geez, I can't catch a break. This is supposed to a new week, right ?

scratch that, just read the topic

standard. you were behind on every street and were able to lose about the minimum possible

what are you complaining about?
theredpill99
I'm complaining a little but I'm here to learn. How do you like my bet sizes on flop and turn and do you like the river check ?

I don't think the hand is really devoid of any kind of analysis ? You can analyze nearly every hand like this. Right ?

Ok,

QQ again

This time in SB

Villain is 75/20

MP calls
Villain in LP raises to $2

I raise to $6 in SB

MP calls
LP calls

Flop: Ts 8c 3c pot=$17

I bet $10
MP folds
LP raises to $20

What do you do here ?
Old me would have just called here.

New me decides to raise to $40

What do you think ?
Villain had a set of 6's about 1 hour ago and sets don't grow on trees so I think he's raising a draw. His AF is 2.14 which suggests that he could be raising a draw or raising AK or something. AF of 2.00 is about normal. He could also be raising a pair of tens.

I bet either the pot or half the pot on the flop....if you bet the pot and he calls I'm checking the turn, and unless he bets some huge amount I'm likely calling.

I don't like playing a massive hand with QQ when I don't get any help. I don't bet 25 on the turn....if i do bet i bet something smaller, maybe 10 dollars...25 and you are getting called only by a hand that is beating you.

Thanks Jack. Your ideas about how to play hands are very similar to my ideas before I started playing the .50/1 NL on Pokerroom. Those guys are maniacs so I've basically changed my game a bit and am making bigger bets than normal because these guys will raise most any small bet. Maybe the change wasn't good for me.

Haven't read replies.

Immediately you should be thinking about how bad the board coordination is on the flop. That flop connects with a lot of connectors, it gives a lot of people pair + draw types of hands. You're runner runner to make a straight, and you only have two outs for a set.

Overbet the flop. If called, slow down. The turn continuation bet is bad.

Don't be self-deprecating, and don't actively search for external causes to your problems in poker (or life).

Most importantly, absolutely nobody cares at all or wants to give you any sympathy for your perceived bad beats, unlucky breaks, or poor situations. The sooner you believe this the better it gets.

Learn, make better decisions, and improve.

Much better! It comes with confidence, and that comes from results, and it sucks to be long on results in no limit.

I would seriously consider dropping down in stakes and playing in a game for which you have 15 max buy ins.

"Variance" is more of a limit term because variance actually approaches mathematical expectations based on play. To call the swings in no limit "variance" doesn't even do it justice to how much of a roller coaster ride it really is.
