Most of the table was pretty passive preflop. They'd call the blind, but most would fold after the flop if anyone bet out.

SB made it a habit (as in, every single time) of raising from the small blind. Most of the table would usually fold. After about his 5th time doing it, I decided to test him. Yeah, I had modest cards and I truly didn't expect anyone to call me and was pretty surprised/scared when they did. Thoughts on this? Is this a good play to run on a predictable player who might be raising trash from a certain position every time?

Cute hand... but stay away from doing this sort of thing, because one day it will get you in trouble.

The first thing you have to understand and truly BELIEVE to be successful at poker is that you WANT to be playing with bad players. Bad players will always lose more than they win over the long run, and it's in your best interest to be around them when they play. This doesn't necessarily mean you'll WIN every time, but that DOESN'T change the fact that you want to be playing with bad players.

So don't get ticked off when someone huckles you real bad. Sublimate that thinking into "how can I plan to take all his chips?"

If someone raises every time from their small blind, that's great. He's adding money and value to a pot after everyone's already in the hand, AND he's out of position each time he raises from the small blind.

The fact that you're in the big blind behind him means you're all but guaranteed to break him if you can get some cards to do it.

75o in the BB is not the kind of hand you want to be re-raising him with. Note that 2 out of your 3 limping opponents called the raise and the re-raise.

That means you've got some seriously loose/passive players, and that means that table is going to be an ATM for you if you can make some straights, flushes, and sets.

Yes your read was right, and yes your play was enough to win THIS pot (probably because nobody had a good jack), but don't do this with bad cards.

You can afford to wait for good cards.

Certainly trying to isolate him will do you good..but not with that crap.
Your flop bet was also weak if you're still trying to represent a strong hand; but showed that a lot of pots are won simply because no one hit.

Let him make you rich; but be more patient.

Even if he's raising preflop with crap your 75o is most likely the worst hand. Wait for something good then isolate him. You're being to fancy for the level you're playing.
