Another questionable call goes the way of the sox. Ive tried a couple of searches on the internet looking for a photo of the ball hitting Dye's bat, but I have not come up with anything... Anyone know of any sites where I may have some better luck??

watch PTI, Around the Horn or Sportscenter today

each will probably talk about the call and give youa good shot

I kind of don't think there is a still image which would show it definitevely. The best way to see it is in slow motion...the ball pretty clearly hits his bat, and Dye's reaction shows that HE didn't think he was hit.

Somebody is smiling on those White Sox, that's for sure.

It's rigged. They paid off the umpires this time.
Suited_Up
Yeah, I think it hit the bat.

But i don't think it mattered. An inch off and it's ball 4, and that was the 3rd pitch that was chest high in a row, and he fouled the first 2. He wasn't putting it in the right spot, and I think the next ball would have been ball 4 regardless.

Umpires suck at officiating baseball.

While it was a bad call by the umpire, I would still consider it very minor. Dye could've walked or even hit the next pitch as Wheeler didnt look exactly solid out there. And just because there's a bad call doesnt mean that Qualls have to give up a grand slam.

I'm way more angry at the Houston relievers than the Umps right now. The Astros lost that game because of their own poor play (and due to the good play of the White Sox of course). They have no reason the blame the umpires.

As much as I hate the sox I think they've got it in the bag. The amount of lucky breaks they've got this season makes me think its destiny

I heard Lee Jones put money on the White Sox at the beginning of the season

Quit whining, go Sox!

Yeah, so many lucky breaks. Let me list a few of the White Sox "lucky breaks" :

-Led the American League in wins.

-Led the AL Central from Game 1 of regular season to game 162 of regular season, uninterrupted.

-Swept the defending World Champion Boston Red Sox without much difficulty.

-Displayed an all-time dominant pitching performance by pwning Angels hitters and winning the ALCS in 5 games.

-Up 2-0 on the Astros in the World Series.

God, with all these lucky breaks it makes me think its destiny also.

Not difficult to pwn the angels batting line-up when they get 1 day off in 2 weeks and there best batter has to play injured. The angels looked like the best team until the 9th innings in game 2 knocked the wind out of there sails. If clemens doesn't get injured in game 1 its a different story as well. So i'd say the sox have got pretty lucky
mk
None of the so-called 'lucky breaks' caused runs to immediately score. It's not like there were plays at the plate that went the Sox' way or home run balls that were foul that were called fair.

Joe Crede came through with a huge clutch hit against Escobar in ALCS Game 2, and Konerko came through with a huge clutch hit off Qualls in WS Game 2. Don't try to take that away from them.

If Crede and Konerko pop out in those spots nobody says boo about it ever again.

The Angels played better in game 1. In game 2 Buherle was pitching a gem in a tied game, so you cant say the Angels looked like a "better" team.

What happened in games 3-5? I guess the "better" team magically disappeared because of 1 controversial call.....NO. The White Sox were the better, more complete team. Once they beat the Astros, there should be no more talk, as it will be very obvious the White Sox are the best team in MLB this year.

Every team that makes it this far usually gets a couple of breaks here and there throught the season and playoffs. And that includes the 2 teams playing this year: the White Sox and Astros. Everything from bad hops and bad calls to freak injuries is a factor in almost every game. But the better team is the one that capitalizes on the good breaks they get AND over comes the bad breaks they get. Both teams have shown that ability throughtout the season.

Since I'm an Astros fan it makes me sad to say that so far White Sox have been the better team. Regardless of what happens the White Sox are definately championship material.

Well said.

I love how when a call finally goes against the Sox (and in a much more significant way--i.e. a home run that was not actually a home run) there is almost nothing made of it. Game 3 probably wouldn't have gone to extra innings if the umps hadn't blown that one.

And I love how during the Sox' amazing rally against Oswalt in the 5th the jopkish Fox announcers made no comments along the lines of, "Look, even when the calls don't go their way, the White Sox still play hard and still capitalize on opportunites. Wow, this is a good team."

Instead, we heard nothing. Stunned silence?

I'm pretty sure Joe Buck gets paid more if the series is extended. Oh well.

Joe Buck and Tim McCarver are d.ickbag Cards fans, who can't stand to see anyone besides them or the Yanks and Redsox in the WS. Bring back Bob Costas!!
rsmbox
anyone notice how quick joe buck was to say the ball didn't hit dye in the 5th? then the replay shows it caught his jersey...but they still rocked oswalt's world anyways
