I'd say this is pretty standard play. If you know the villian is a very aggressive or loose player who would bluff with only a pair in this spot, then you can MAYBE call him down, but it is highly likely you are up against a straight or two pair, so folding is usually correct.

Even without reads on your opponent, you are currently behind (and maybe drawing dead) more times than not here I think. Good check/fold to save two big bets IMO. 8)
