this was on pokerstars and i hit a royal during this session, first one on pokerstars. heh.

ok so... i ventured into the realm of the real playing on poker stars, it's only 1 penny/2 penny but here are my stats:

During current Omaha H/L session you were dealt 375 hands and saw flop:
- 50 out of 51 times while in big blind (98%)
- 47 out of 49 times while in small blind (95%)
- 266 out of 275 times in other positions (96%)
- a total of 363 out of 375 (96%)
Pots won at showdown - 74 of 98 (75%)
Pots won without showdown - 21

so far my $25 buy-in has almost doubled but i think it's decent percentage wise and i just hit a nice hand on someone i'd played with for around 100 of those hands and busted him, had second nut low and quads so my $5 table buy-in is now at $25 and some change. i don't bully players and i set ego aside (pretty sure).

any thoughts from anyone on this? not the one nice hand, those come and go, stats-wise.

Your playing too many hands. Maybe not "way" many like it appears, but still to many. Your next question may be well what is the right amount? There is no answer to that question. I would suggest playing a little less loose, notice I didn't say tighten up? At these limits you should see lots of flops especially if you can outplay them post flop.

For starters, just start playing less hands from under the gun. This would be a nice starting point, and you could move to the next seat and so on. Playing hands out of position is bad, plain and simple. So since your playing too many hands, cut out the ones from the worst position. I think it will help you in the long run. In the short run maybe not, but you should try to always make the best decision win or lose. (if you make the wrong decision and win thats a bonus, but learn from it)

I play some low limit omaha hi/low at party and while this strategy of playing a lot of hands will probably pull a profit at the play money tables, it probably won't at the real money tables. The reason being, a lot of people play tighter at these tables and you will lose the small bet trying to see a lot of flops and even more trying to chase cards to make the nuts. A lot of people have written good posts on what starting hands your looking for. That way your making everybody else chase their draws when you have the best of it.

I have to agree with this post. You have to remember that poker is a game of correct decisions, not final products. the fact that your up money does not mean anything if ur seeing over 90% of flops. I suggest reading a book on hi/lo split games (2+2 puts out a good book on this). UTG and UTG+1 should have you folding most hands PF, you are very lucky that ur not being raised all of the time and in ur terrible position, there is nothing you can do. The thing is, Omaha is a game about position, its even more important than Holdem. I am surprised that there are this many weak games of PL omaha hi/lo because even online (except party i believe) its not spread much. Limit is much more common (and is what i mostly play). There is also a great article on Cardplayer (from a ways back) talking about omaha hi/lo in terms of a point system and how u need to have X amount of points to play and raise and so forth. I think that you are very lucky you havent been cracked terribly playing over 90% of hands PF. If I had those stats on you i would be raising u in position every time u limped from UTG and made u pay for playing this way

How did that work out?

I play in a live 3-6 split game with a full kill. In that game there are so many limpers pre-flop that you can beat the game if you just play A2, A3, and big pairs that flop sets. The game is so loose that if you just tighten way up you will win few pots, but they are large. Its a great game and the 6-12 game at the same casino is nothing like the 3-6.

Way too many hands. I recommend playing anywhere from 30-50% of your hands and a good rule of thumb for a beginner is if you don't have an ace, don't play...
