I've been away from poker for two months and feeling a little rusty. Here's an attack on the blinds.
BB is a pretty solid TA player. I've been stealing succesfully a couple of times earlier.

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (8 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is Button with [Ah], [Jc].
5 folds, BB calls.

Flop: (8.50 SB) [9s], [Ad], [8c] (2 players)
BB bets, Hero calls.

Turn: (7.25 BB) [Js] (2 players)
BB bets, Hero calls.

River: (13.25 BB) [Qs] (2 players)
BB bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 15.25 BB

you REALLY misplayed this hand, ESPECIALLY if BB is a "tight solid player".

why are you capping that preflop? you have position, you don't need to. he has clearly shown strength by three-betting there out of position, and AJo isn't exactly a premium.

why are you raising this flop? if he has a pocket pair, let him keep betting into you. don't give him a chance to fold it. you are also spewing agianst a better ace.

on the turn, the raise is good.

river call is fine if he has shown this much strength.

but note that both the turn and river play differently if you play preflop and flop correctly.

Thanks, I needed that.

I justified the cap with that I had stolen a few times and figured he had picked up on it and wanted to play back at me. I got carried away.

If he has decided to play back at you, you should be happy to oblige when you have position and a hand like AJ that is most likely best against a re-steal attempt. Your hand really isn't a steal either, I'd raise with a large variety of hands in the CO with no limpers in the pot.

Really no reason to cap, if you have him beat, you discourage him from trying to bet weaker hands, if he has you beat, your just giving away your chips.

Your line should be pretty much what aseem wrote.

When you raise preflop with AJ i wouldn't really consider it a steal attempt. I mean when you open raise with 1010 is it a steal attempt?

That kind of thinking has gotten me in deep trouble spewing into worthlessly small pots heads up.

Mad props on the Calvin and Hobbes.
