Full Version: econ_tim's 6 max quest

I've already played 3,000 hands of .5/1 6 max since the weekend, and I intend to play 6 max until I get pretty good at it.

Six max play is a lot faster than ring games, so I should be able to get more practice this way and have a higher earn/hour (although probably not when I compare .5/1 6 max to 2/4 full). Also, I'll have to get better at blind steals and blind play. Playing six max is also the fastest way to clear bonuses and generate rakeback.

I plan to play a few tens of thousands of hands at .5/1 until I'm satisfied that I'm crushing it and then do the same for 1/2. What winrate should I shoot for at .5/1 and 1/2?

Also, do any experienced short-handed players have words of wisdom to impart before I begin my quest? I've skimmed most of the very long PDF on SH play which was posted on 2+2 and I'm starting to read the HUSH forum. I'm using the preflop chart at the beginnning of the the PDF as training wheels for now. Do you think those guidelines are generally correct? The main thing I noticed is that the blind stealing standards seemed to be too high.

Also, if anyone is willing to share hand histories from a few SH sessions with me, I greatly appreciate it. I feel I could learn a lot just from looking over a few hundred hands. If you are uncomfortable sharing your alias, you can always you the "find and replace" command in notepad to get rid of it.

I'll post updates on my progress, and some stats when I get 10K hands.

10K hands in Short Handed play is you just getting yourself hard before you even get to the foreplay. Don't post anything until after 20K ahnds. I will say this, you're K10 hand that I saw in HUSH should've been folded on the flop with that board.

Winrate is Winrate, as long as you are playing well and doing a good job of table/seat selection, then it will come

you will want to steal the blinds anywhere from 38-45% of the time, at least that is what your blind steal % should be around. The beauty of short handed play is that there is no one style that works best. I do suggest that you datamine like its your job. I'll be seeing you around HUSH as that is where I'm gonna do a lot of posting over the next 6 months

BTW, I'm playing exclusively X-Party skins for now, so I guess I'll find out if they're as tight as everyone thinks. From what I've seen 6-max is still soft (at least at the .5/1 level) although I have run into a couple tight tables.
