In position I really dont mind you just calling the turn. Figure he has 70$ left and the pots around that. A raise screams 10. Might as well let him keep betting and if he checks the river throw in a value bet.
Jordan
why raise if he wants to bet it.

plays itself...let him bet into you all he wants with his overpair or whatever or stone cold bluff.

Looks fine. Did he have JJ or something? :S

Yes he had JJ, if I raised the turn, he may have layed his hand down.

I wish you hadn't said this already, you'll have to trust me when I say I would have re-raised the turn before seeing the results. Here is why. If he's semi-bluffing on a flush draw, you're going to pay him off on the river because you have no information at all about him. Most hands he has at this point you have crushed, but if he's drawing to a flush, you're going to want to make him pay hard when you have the better hand. Since you're going to get all the money in on the river, I push the turn, hoping for a call from a hand I have crushed, including the JJ.

I put $55 on UB to play tournies with.

Finished out of the money last night in a 3k guarenteed.

I just got my new job so I'm not really worried about playing cards for cash now...getting back into just playing for good times. Thus, just some MTT action here and there.

If his stack is deeper, I bet the turn. As it is, I think it's probably not going to be hard getting him all-in on the river. I'm not trying to get him to lay down...I want all his chips in the middle, and my betting strategy is all about getting that job done.. So he hit a 2-outer. It happens.

Your play is perfect IMO. If someone wants to bet into you, just sit back and let them fire at you. When he hit the jack on the river, it was the last jack in the deck and a terrible bad beat. 98% of the time, you are taking a monsterous pot from him. The play was perfect, it was just bad luck. Don't let it rattle ya'.

Make that a 1-outer. He has two Js, Hero has one too. A wickedly bad beat. Honestly, I think a case could be made for both raising and smooth calling on the turn. You're taking this pot down a vast majority of the time, so I really like the smooth call.

I agree that we should just let this guy bet into us when we're pretty sure we have the best hand.

I'm also on the fence here.

I would lean more towards pushing the turn though. Let's remember this game is 5 handed, no limpers and he is raising from the SB. His range of hands is nearly unlimited in mind. This could range from a pure steal attempt, to any PP to suited connectors.

After the turn there is a straight possibility on the board as well as a flush draw from the flop.

I think there are a lot of cards that are possible scare cards on the river (any 8 or 9 leaves one to the straight and any club that doesn't pair the board).

I think the results will be the same for the hand anyway although we really shouldn't think about the hand that way.

Thanks guys, I now feel as I did before that I played the hand correctly. The only reason I feel to raise the turn would be to keep out the flush draw.
