I just sat down, and I'm unfamiliar with the villain in this hand, so no read.

Third and fourth look ok? I think these are fairly standard.

Main question is fifth. I frequently make a raise like this heads-up with a mediocre pair against a fairly dead 3-flush that suddenly wakes up. My goal is to fold out a player with a nothing hand that's taking a stab with a scary board, since my hand is so vulnerable. Plus, I might buy a free card on 6th, if I decide to take it. Usually, I'll call a reraise here, because a 4-flush is fairly likely to reraise, but then I can comfortably fold UI if he catches another flush card on 6th, figuring I'm beat one way or the other.

On 6th, I bet again, figuring I still may well have the best hand. With him showing three overs, anybody think I should take the free card?

And on 7th, I check behind, figuring I'll get called by anything that beats me. Anybody bet here?

I don't like the whole hand.

I wouldn't have called on third street at all, with all those limpers, just a pair of nines, one of our fours is out, and an ace in the hand.

Fourth street I like, as your bet got rid of all but the ace.

Fifth street I am undecided on. I can see the benefits of raising there, just not sure I would have done it, ith ONLY a pair of nines.

Sixth street I would have taken the free card. However, when you do, you will almost always have to call a bet on 7th.

7th street I would have called down also.

Guess I was wrong, I didn't dislike the whole hand, just playing it in the first place for the most part. 8)

third street is fine, if I'm reading this right, you were second to last to act right? I'm definetly getting in cheap there, its cool, its standard

4th: standard

5th: hmmmm, I think he has an overpair more then he has a flush, cause in total that we know about, there are 7 flush cards in play, so the likelyhood of him having three to start I just don't fully believe. I think he might have more like a 4 flush and a pair of tens, since he wakes up with that hand. I think the raise isn't a bad idea, but we need to catch a card to give us two pair

6th: I lean towards checking and trying to see the river for free to hit two pair, and since he's drawing also, I want to see his action, and call a bet by him if he bets in front of us, cause I want to see his cards badly

7th: works, I'd have checked 6th can checked or called the river, but this is a good check, I don't think that you're gonna make him fold a pair of tens or a pair of queens if he now caught queens

I agree with you guys that I should've taken the free card on 6th - that's what I was thinking when I posted. It doesn't make much sense to bet 6th unless I'm going to bet 7th as well; and my hand isn't strong enough for that, I don't think.

Anyway, he had Qc7d in the hole, pair of queens was his final hand.

...I don't like this at all from fifth street on. I think you fold this hand for sure. There are WAY too many hands you are trailing to be this aggressivel. An overpair, two pair, or a flush. Even if he has a smaller pair and a flush draw, you are still in trouble. If you had two pair, then maybe your play was okay, but with only a pair of nines, I get out and wait for a better spot, as a pair of nines is EXTREMELY unlikely to hold up in the end. Your play on third and fourth was fine, as a concealed pair is good to see fourth and fifth street with if you can do so cheaply, as you figure to get paid off well when you do. However, if and when you dont' hit it, don't overplay your hand like you did here.

I like the raise on fifth street because there are so many dead clubs out there and if all he's got is three to a flush you give him the chance to throw his hand away. However I do think you should have taken the free card on sixth street because there are too many ways his hand could have "accidently" improved at this point. Think about it; could you stand a check raise here? What would it do to your table image if you were leading the whole way and then had to throw your hand away for one more big bet on 6th street? Plus by checking you'll often get the same extra bet out of him if he fails to improve on the river and bluffs at it.
