I think this is my first post in strategy. I suck at poker in general, and am new to LHE.

No reads in this hand.

PokerStars 0.02/0.04 Hold'em (8 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Preflop: Hero is UTG with [Ts], [Td].
Hero raises, MP2 calls, CO calls, Button calls, SB calls, BB calls.

Flop: (14 SB) [Tc], [5d], [8c] (7 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets, UTG+1 calls, MP2 calls, CO folds, Button folds, SB calls, BB calls.

Turn: (9.50 BB) [2d] (5 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets, UTG+1 calls, MP2 calls, SB folds, BB calls.

River: (13.50 BB) [7d] (4 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 17.50 BB

Problem for me here is that I know I have the best hand on flop/ turn, so I bet out, but there are so many call stations that All draws have odds to call. Is there a way to prevent this? Also, how is betting the river? Should I check/call there? Anything else I did wrong? Thanks.

For a new player, you played very well. You did everything perfect.

You must make them pay to draw out on you, no matter how much it may suck.

You have to bet out on the river there, if you get raised, you still have to call. You have the odds.

You can't fold for one more bet into such a big pot, even if you are beat.

Pick up Small Stakes Hold Em as soon as possible.

I think you played the hand well. As far as protecting against draws is concerned, there's not a lot you can do in limit hold'em. You could try a check-raise, if you expect a bet to come from late positition and you can then make the rest of the field face two-cold...give them improper odds to draw. In this hand, you were the pre-flop aggressor, you have to bet out.

Value bet this river all day long. If somebody hit a backdoor flush on you, so be it. That's poker, you'll win money from him in the long run.

Yes, you can check-raise here if you think someone will bet from a later position to try and thin the field by making them faces two cold bets, but that is not the best strategy here.

Anyone with any decent draw isn't going any where, and with two clubs on that board, it's time to make them pay to draw. That is what limit is about, making them pay to draw out on you.

There is nothing you can do to stop it, they will draw out on you whether you bet or not. The question is, do you want them to draw on you for free or do you want to make them pay? If you don't know what the answer is, you have a lot to learn. (You want to make them pay.)

Also you were the preflop raiser, by betting here instead of check-raising you conceal the true strength of your hand and you get a lot more "dead money" as we like to call it in the pot.

Dead money is people that have no real chance of drawing out on you but are putting their money into the pot anyway, and by betting here people are going to be more apt to call you because (and don't ask why, because we don't know) they always assume anyone that bets preflop and then bets again on the flop with no face cards is most likely bluffing, and even if you aren't bluffing they usually assume if they hit one of their outs they can fuck you.

So by check-raising here you're just scaring away the dead money that you want in the pot and even though your cutting the odds of people with real draws, you won't be cutting them enough at this point to get them to fold.
