Sorry if this isn't posted in the right format.

Please critique my play. I've never really played much Stud before, but I'm attempting to learn a little bit, because I hear they are very soft games.

Thank You.

why would you check/call on 4th if your not going to check/raised on 5th. Why not bet out both times? thats the only problem I really saw with it.

You did not play this very well in my opinion. This is an automatic re-raise on third street, by just calling, you are just asking to be outdrawn. Same on fourth street, play this very aggressively. In fact, you should be betting and raising until someone starts to reraise you. You will get alot of value by playing this aggressively and having someone with a smaller two pair call you down. In this hand, maybe you were trying to slowplay here, but you should almost never slowplay a big pair in stud. Especially in a multiway pot.

Thanks for the replies.

It seems like I should basically always be betting my hand when I have a good one in stud. There are always chasers on here.

I'm not a good stud player by any means, I'm very new to the game, I was just having a bit of a down session in LHE, so I figured I'd try playing Stud, and play tight.

It seems like if I could learn any amount, I'd be able to be a winning player here. Playing .25/.5, I'm up about 5-10 dollars in a couple short sessions, and that usually includes me donking off a few bucks before I quit.

Anyways,

Thanks.

Here are my thoughts:

Third Street - three limpers, then a raise in front of you by a 3 showing. Depending on the table/opponents, I don't mind just a call there, to keep the limpers in, with our ace doorcard. A little bit of deception doesnt (automatically) hurt with a pair of aces.

Fourth street - nobody appears to have helped their hands any (unless they are all going for low straights), except sazo2 (two to a flush showing). Again, I would just check here, as you want the limpers to call one bet, but they most likely wont call two bets. We have a monster here, so why scare out the hands that are going to pay us off.

Fifth street - We now have the high hand showing, which sucks, due to our position to the bettor. I think I would have checked here also, hoping to have someone else bet for us, so we could raise. I just don't see the bettor giving any of us a free card here, so he is sure to bet IMO, if nobody else does.

Sixth street - with an open pair showing like that, you have to raise him (which you did), to see if he has trips. If he re-raises, you can call and see 7th. If he just calls, unless he improves to trips, we should have him. Didnt expect the other two to call 2 cold, but it looks safe for us.

7th street - bet/call to a raise.

Not a terribly bad hand IMO, but as you can see I would have played it a little differently (what do I know though...lol) 8)

raise third street. a pair of aces UI is gonna have a hard time winning in a multiway pot, you want to thin the field a bit

4th- cr it at least, you now have aces up, I'm fast playing this

5th-why bet out when you can cr, your logic is pretty off on this hand

the rest is okay, don't include the results next time dude, and try to write this out in a more linear format
