I would be tempted to pot it again on the turn when he checks to you. His call on the flop probably means he has a 9 and is not yet full. You have top kicker and a low draw, let's find out now if he liked the 5. If he CR thenyou may well be beat and it is time to move on.

Overall I really don't like trips. A good player isn't going to be calling down with only a K kicker so in general trips are only going to cost you money.

However it looks like this player was an idiot. What that in mind I like the turn check because it means
1) You opponent may bluff the river
2) If your opponent checks the river you have the best hand.
3) If keeps you from getting blown out of the hand until you know if your low draw will get there. In this case you can use your flop bet as a free card play and also keep the pot small.

After the turn check I would call most any bet (from this opponent) and I would value bet if checked to me.

I may be against the norm here, but I like the check-down on these types of hands. Just having trips with those types of boards is far from the nuts, even when your kicker is ace high. Look at your opponents hand - while a mediocre hand before the flop, they had just as much chance of filling up as you did, not to mention all of the other hands that could have been out there to beat you that people do not want to bet (ANY underfull for example).

Be thankfull for these type sof small pots IMO. 8)

Trip is a trouble hand against solid players. However for this hand I would pot the turn again, on the river, pot it again too.

Some of the responses have indicated "against this opponent" or "for this hand", which seem to be results oriented thinking, using info from how this opponent played this hand (and the hand they played), which we are not privy to at all in the original post until AFTER we have seen their cards.

For the next couple of hands you play against this opponent, you may want to change how you play, but for this particular hand, you can't use that info.

Therefore, IMO it is a check it down hand. 8)
