Seriously...
I want to get a new comp, but if I can save money I'd rather do a custom one, does anyone want to build one for me? I know Governator said he could, but I dunno if he was serious. Also what do you think costs would be for something decent?
I wanna use an AMD Athlon 64 X2, 1GB Ram, 250GB HD-ish
Any ideas?
When I looked at custom sites online it usually worked out to be around $1300 if I tried to be as cheap as possible but get what I wanted. But seems like it should be cheaper, who knows.

No, I don't really... but that seems to be the standard high end before the price really jumps. I just want the best I can so it's good for awhile.

It'll be outdated in 2 months lol. That's the computer industry. It sounds like it'll be a pretty monstrous machine though.

The key is really the new x2 processor. Dual core and whatnot. I wanna be able to run a bunch of stuff at once.

That is one HOT box.....I found something similar on tigerdirect.com for $2699.

With the dual core you'll want plenty of cooling fans. Hate to see you melt that thing down.... Seriously it's a lot of horsepower and out of my league as far as building one...it's been 8 years since I built my last PC...hard to compete with the Dell's of the world.
good luck and let me know where you find your ultimate answer.

Nice choice to go dual core, but if your looking for value, check out the Pentium D 820.
Half the price and higher gig.
From what I've read on here, I hope Elkang sees your thread, IIRC this guy knows what to tell you exactly.

I've looked into it, and the Ghz doesn't matter. The AMD's perform better than the Pentium's, regardless of how they clock the speed. The X2 seems to be the best processor out there right now.

You just need a machine that will keep you from quad-posting.

Shutup!!!
It's the damn forum's fault.
It's being retarded. Every time I try to load a page I have to reload like 104 times before it comes out right. Then when I try to post it never goes through the first time... Now i'm getting a debug mode after I post, and apparently it DOES go through when I get that message!

you can get all your parts at newegg. I can do it as well as a couple of friends I know. PM me with what you are going to use the pc for mostly and I'll see what I can do.

So I went to newegg and put a bunch of stuff in the cart to see how much it was.
Comes out to about $909 for the basics...
Processor
Motherboard (comes with sound card already right?)
Case
Memory
Hard Drive
Video Card (Why are these so much?)
DVD Burner Drive
Although I don't really know how to pick which ones, so I made educated guesses.
So I might not be saving a ton of money really. Not sure.
