It looks like he was so excited to get TWO sets on the turn that he failed to consider what I could be betting, or to realise that the T was the worst possible card for him as it reduced his outs by 2.

For me, if I was the MP2:

Pre-flop: limp or fold, leaning heavily towards folding.
Flop: raise
Turn: check/call
River: check/fold since we didnt improve.

I fold the turn in villain's shoes. Pot bet I have to give you credit for a straight, so I'm drawing to eight outs getting 2:1 on my money. I'm not sure implied odds can stretch it any further than 4:1, and that's if you're an idiot, which I know you're not.
