NL Holdem section in 2 is a rewrite of SS1.
SS1 covers different games, but mostly outdated
Draw: dead
Stud High: falling out of favor
Stud Hi-Lo, no qualifier: dead
Razz: minimal coverage, but that's more than 2
Single Draw Lowball: mostly dead
Limit Hold 'Em is different in SS1, and useful but inferior to that in SS2
All math and tables is available elsewhere more cheaply and efficiently
SS2 covers modern games and has sections on tourney play, the new limit holdem section, covers stud/8, omaha, omaha/8, 2-7 triple draw
Unless you plan to play stud or razz, or you want the original limit holdem section (you shouldn't), just get 2

The 7-stud section is amazing, when I've been in mixed games with stud, I just rely on my Chip Reese

Razz - just get 2+2s hi/lo split book its implied there in the stud 8OB.

Get SS2, Jennifer's Limit HE section is very good. Sections on O8 and PLO are new as well. Doyle also get's into tournament strategy more than the first one.

ehhh...wrong. Stud is still the main game played across america. If you go to any casino that has a poker room north of the Mason Dixie line you'll find plenty of stud games being spread. In AC many of the holdem games get started because people are waiting for a stud table

The European Championship is Stud. Reese's section is brilliant. It will teach you just about anything you need to know about the game.

It's so funny that NL Hold em is a rewrite from SS1 given the total explosion of the game in the last few years. I mean, I'm sure things have changed "somewhat" since SS1. They should have revised it a little bit at least.

doyle actually mentions that in SS2, he says he sat down to try and revise the chapter for modern times, but he didn't see anything he didn't agree with lol

actually I have to agree with Dolly here. Many people are upset that he didn't add much new to it, but if you go through, what does he really need to change. Everything holds true today same with the stud section in SS1

The only useful sections of Super System 1 that can be applied today is the Seven Card Stud section, 2-7 No Limit section, the brief Razz tutorial, and the No Limit Hold'em section. The Limit Hold'em section is a little too simple, seven card stud high/low is basically bead, A-5 is played triple draw, and high card draw is dead. I say only buy the original Super System if your are unterested in playing Seven Card Stud and no limit 2-7. For Razz go to Sklansky.
