Just wondering how others would have played this...

.50-$1 PLO8

Dank has A icon_suit_diamond.gif 3 icon_suit_club.gif 5 icon_suit_spade.gif J icon_suit_spade.gif from the cutoff. I open limp, button calls, blinds call/check.

Flop is 2 icon_suit_heart.gif 4 icon_suit_heart.gif J icon_suit_diamond.gif . 2 checks, I bet the pot, $4, button re-pots to $16, blinds fold, back on me, Dank...

The flop was about as good as I could ask for, and there aren't many hands I'm a dog to, but I wasn't sure if a call or a raise is better here.
Smasharoo
Folds?

This isn't anything approaching close.

You're kidding about calling or raising, right?

Tons of hands have you totally crushed.

Stop playing PLO8 immediately.
dank773
Sure smash, I'll fold my top TPTK, wrap wheel draw. Could you please name a few of the "tons" of hands that have me crushed?

Thanks for you help though.

Good luck.

A235 with two hearts.
AA23
A356
A3KK with two hearts
JJ35
AA35
etc. etc.

There are litterally dozens.

Stop playing PLO8 if you can't fold this hand here.

You're going to get killed otherwise.

Honestly.

Position is so critical in PLO8 expressly because of situations like this. Care to list a few hands that pot back here in position that you're ahead of?

Didn't think so.

good luck.
dank773
Well, I can name the hand that did pot it back at me.

A icon_suit_heart.gif 4 icon_suit_diamond.gif J icon_suit_heart.gif 10 icon_suit_heart.gif .

One of the many hands that crushes me, right Smash?

Oh wait, my EE is over .5 to that hand.

Good luck.

My (inexperienced) two cents, somebody flame me if this doesn't make sense:

Why pot it in the first place if you're not going to fold to a button re-pot?

It seems to me that the only reason to pot it initially on the flop is to either buy the pot now, or to buy the button and a possible free card chance on the turn, right? I think when the semibluff gets reraised, you should fold heads-up (unless one of the two stacks is small enough that you can be all-in here with the right odds for two draws at the scoop outs).

Assuming the stacks are deep, even given that his hand is what it was (it easily could have been stronger), even if you're +EV right now, his position may still give him the advantage in the hand. (He can easily fold if your wheel card hits the turn, while you'll be in trouble if a J hits.)

Don't mistake other people's playing badly with you playing well.

You're horrible at PLO8, sorry.

Why do you post hands if you don't want advice?

It's not my fault you're wrong here. Posting a NLHE hand where you have 78s and the flop is AKQ of a another suit and you call an all in and the other guy has 56o doesn't mean you made the right play.

This is very, very, easy fold.

I know you don't want to hear that, but it is.

But, hey, you're ego's way more important than getting better at the game, right?

Right, fish?

Good luck ever trying to move past $100 but in and wondering why you keep getting freerolled and 3/4ed when you raise hands like this out of position like a moron.

good luck.

I post hands so that the good Omaha players on here can offer their two cents.

Thanks for telling me to fold a hand in which I'm a favorite.

That is a great play.

I don't know how you've made the billions of dollars you claim to have won playing PLO8, if you fold every time you have an edge.

Also, it really doesn't bother me when someone who hasn't proven his game to me, or to anyone for that matter, calls me a fish.

Perhaps you're opinion is more respected in the World of Warcraft.

Thanks for your help though.

Good luck.

dank, he's trying to be helpful. I know he's rubbing you the wrong way with his tone.

I know I've made posts like this before...having my read be correct and having the edge that I assumed. That said, it might be the wrong decision normally (and especially against skilled opponents at higher levels). That's all smash is saying - generally, this is a fold. I believe he's got the experience to back that statement up.

When you run the numbers you are only a 52% favorite on the flop. Since you didn't know what he had AND you were OOP this is an easy fold. Just let it go.

Hahah.

This was the funniest part of your whole post.

Look, like I said. If you can't get better because of your ego, fine.

I'm not here to prove something to you, I play for money. You can play for ego.

Good luck with that, man.

I lurk here a lot, dank, trying to learn plo8. Smash knows his stuff. It's ludicrous for you to think you have a good understanding of this game if you think he would intentionally mislead you. He's helped a lot of people here get better and he continues to do so.

By the way, Smash... where's that PLO8 project?
dank773
Smash lecturing on ego, I love it. That really made my night.

Thanks for your help though.

Good luck.

No lecturing.

I just think it's sort of sad that you're going to let your ego prevent you from becoming a better player.

Mine doesn't. I know I'm great, but I don't assume a play is right because I made it.

good luck.

Or because the results turn out in my favor.

I'm assuming they did for you on this hand. Otherwise you wouldn't be defending this play. You probably spiked a non-heart A, 3, 5, or 6, scooped, and are patting yourself on the back, when in reality, you made a horrible play, building a huge pot OOP on a coinflip.

I'm laughing at you.
But don't let that keep yuo from reading this.
I, like Smash & MK & Colbalt, really do want to give advice.

Do you know why being a 60% fav OOP HU is not worth it? (unless you are practically all in already...)

Because he can fold or riase depending on his hand, after you have made yuor move. It's clear to me; and I don't play, much. It's enormous reverse implied odds. Keep beating bad players with Bad Plays. It doesn't make you good.
Sluggo
Hi. Don't feel bad, Dank.

Fold.

Good luck.

The 2+2 thread about this hand has gotten quite self-righteous.
