This is why you do not slowplay...Fastplaying this against a guy I knew was a fish was the way to go. I was so excited that I accidentally hit call on the river on the last bet instead of raise, oops....

Why didn't you cap 7th street? Why did you raise 3rd? You might have gotten two more callers.

edit: saw you said that you were too exicited and just hit call
KowboyKoop
I didn't cap on the river because my hand slipped and I accidentally hit fold, I know, bad mistake, but it only cost me one more bet, oh well. I raised on third street because I had been playing at the table for a while (as had most of the other players) and I had ALWAYS raised if I was gonna play with an Ace on the board. This is a rule that I follow in general: If i have an ace up and it hasn't been raised yet, I am either going to fold or raise, no matter if I am rolled up, have split aces, a smaller concealed pair, three to a flush, or I am just trying to steal the antes. Limping in would have simply been too suspicious and I feel that you should play your big hands just the same as your more marginal hands so that noone can ever put you on an exact hand based on how you bet it. There are some players I play with who will only raise with an ace up if they have a pair of aces, with a small concealed pair or three to a flush, they will just limp, which makes them easy to read. I know that by raising in this situation I risked not making that much on my monster hand, but that risk is worth the reward of keeping my opponents guessing whenever I raise with an ace, as I could have anything from a pair of dueces to rolled up aces.

I definately wouldn't have raised third street, as you want the other players money in there. Making them call 2 bets instead of 1 isn't good.

Fourth street I think I also would have played soft, waiting for 5th street to raise it up, when the bets are doubled.

Just me though. I wouldn't have played it scared like you did (by your raising for isolation), I would have played it to trap.

For my reasoning behind why I played it the way I did, I refer you to my other post in this thread. Also, I think if I play it slower in this situation, I probably win a smaller pot, as they were calling me down when I was fastplaying as it is. As Hellmuth says, "Donkeys Always Draw.." so might as well get as much as I can out of them while they do so.

Yeah, I can see many a table that I have been at where playing it fast was more profitable, due to the opponents, and others where your third street raise has everyone running for the hills. laugh.gif

Yeah, it depends a lot on your table image and the players you are playing. However, I like to go with my theory of "deception by repitition." (Yeah, not MY theory, but, the one I use...)
