I kind of like bet/folding the turn here. I don't want to induce a bluff on the river from something like 10-9 because it will be incredibly hard to call (even before the J pairs). If he calls the turn and bets the river, I fold. If he calls the turn and then checks the river, I check behind.

Is my line really poor? If it is, please explain why.

As it turns out, you go to show down for the same price as betting the turn and folding the river.

I don't mind the call.
After checking the turn, lots of hands will bet here. They just have to fold a better hand 1/5 times. SB called a 2.5 preflop...sounds like PP, or otherwise a hand that would have bet the flop or turn. Unless he was looking to c/r the turn....geeesh.

I probably bet the turn as well. I don't like the bet/fold line though because you aren't necessarily way behind to a raise. I prefer bet/call, since I've for sure got at least 2 King outs, and probably 3 clean 10 outs that are likely to win this pot for those times I'm behind.

If you bet, and he smooth calls, the pot will be 7.5 on the river. Then I'd be more comfortable checking the river down... cauz it's quite possible he's going for a river C/R. If he bets out, I'd have a tough time calling with this river card. I'd really want some reads for that decision.

In your scenario, with a double paired board, three to the flush and relatively small pot, I think you gotta fold to the river bet.

Yeah, bet the turn...but if you check it, you gotta fold to this river bet.

Actually the villain did end up having a 9-T and I took the pot, just curious if it should have been an easy fold. Thanks for all your help.

turn check is fine, it lets you try to hit some of your outs. RIver has to be folded

I very much like how you played this. Betting the turn is probably bad because a raise blows you out of a showdown. When you check the turn, it induces him to bluff virtually any hand on the river. And I like the river call. Nh.

I stick by villan bets any river.
I'm happy to pay to see what he calls a 3 bet from in the SB and then shows no more aggression.
