WPT - Season 3
WPT AT TUNICA, DAY 3
WPT $10,000 No Limit Hold'em
3:55 CST UPDATE
3:55
High-stakes player Herezel Zalewski made an extra nine grand by holding on until 15th place. That's one bet where he plays. Herezel had A 5 in the big blind and he raised John Stolzmann's button raise all-in. John called the 80k more with K J and flopped the hook. Stolzmann is another GENERATION 20 player like Michael Mizrachi. Whoever of these two lasts longer is my 'Young Gun' for the month of January.
3:25
Larry Satterwhite won with pocket Aces for two and a half days. The streak ended with Larry in 16th when his 50k bet preflop was called by Mike Liras with pocket 7's. Understandably, Satterwhite went all-in for another 100k or so with a flop of 10 7 2. Liras' set send Satterwhite to the rail.
Raja Kattamuri is the chip leader with 750k, followed by Chau Giang at 550k, Daniel Negreanu is moving up with 440k.
2:55
We're on a break. Next level is 2k ante, 8k/16k blinds.
17 Shulman Jeff $33,628
18 Montalbano Herbie $33,628
It was costing these players 24,000 in chips per round. They had to make a move.
Montalbano tried an A J from late position for about 100k. Daniel Negreanu had pocket Queens on the button. The rock crumbles into 18th.
Jeff Shulman had only 40k left and sailed it into the pot with pocket 2's. Raja Kattamuri had pocket 8's and he didn't need the 8 he got on the turn.
2:45
Two tables now with approximate chip counts.

For his New York fans, the bad news is that Mike May went out in 19th. So he missed the raise to the $33,628 level by one player. Mike was a sport as usual, the players wanted to go hand for hand to the new pay level. May said, "I'll take care of it." He reraised Michael Mizrachi's 75k raise all-in with A 10 offsuit. Mizrachi had pocket 6's. The thrills never stop here at the WPO. The flop came with a 6 but with three hearts. Mike had the Ace of Hearts and he picked up a gutshot straight draw on the turn. With a lot of outs, Mike May's amazing run from 7,300 yesterday ended.
2:05
The 5k/10k blinds are forcing the players to gamble. Chau Giang just limped in from the small blind with A 7. Dan Heimiller had A 2 in the big. When an Ace flopped, Dan sent 150k all-in. In a bit of bad luck for Heimiller in 20th, the seven played.
1:45
Three more for the road. Frankie Havard tried pocket Queens for his last 52k. John Stolzmann covered Havard and called with A J. When an Ace hit the turn, Havard hit the bricks in 23rd.
Then young gun Theo Jorgensen tried to bluff Raja Kattamuri off a flopped top set. Bad idea. Jorgensen had to change into 22nd place when his river 115k was called. Theo pictured a fold with his gutshot straight and backdown flush draw and 7 6. Raja was a prince with pocket 10's and a set.
21st, Alex Prendes had K J off for his case 20k. Herbie 'The Rock' Montalbano had pocket Queens in the big blind. Prendes never had bupkis and lasted a day long than most would have.
21 Prendes Alex $24,020
22 Jorgensen Theo $24,020
23 Havard Frankie $24,020
24 Napolitano Mark $24,020
25 Laux Barbara $24,020
26 Young Art $24,020
27 Parkinson Padraig $24,020
1:25
Mark Napolitan, 'The Boss' is out in 24th. He was running low and had a chance to double up against Jim Lester's raise. Mark went for it with pocket 5's. 'Presto' made Mark disappear when Lester turned over Aces. Nice run.
12:55
The last remaining female in the 2005 WPO went out in 25th when she made it 30k to go from the cutoff spot. Scotty Nguyen had A K on the button and reraised Barbara all-in for her last few chips. Laux had the K J of Diamonds and finished 25th. Another nice job of low stack survival like Art Young's. Laux could easily have been out well before the money let alone get to Day 3.
25 Laux Barbara $24,020
26 Young Art $24,020
27 Parkinson Padraig $24,020
12:35
Quickly after the introductions, Padraig Parkinson picked up pocket Kings and Theo Jorgensen found pocket Aces. "Tell them I played good," Parkinson said as he went to get paid for 27th. "I should have had Jacks."
A few minutes later Art Young's short stack disappeared in 26th. Jason Tate took about half in one hand and the rest when Art played pocket 4's against Jason Tate's A Q of Clubs. Tate made a flush on the river to end one of the great survival stories of this event.
