$3/$6 hold 'em, six-handed

CO is the only relevant villian. he is new to the table and i have absolutely no read.

i'm CO with 8 7 .
UTG limps, i limp, CO limps, ..., BB checks.

(4 SB) A Q 4
BB checks, UTG checks, i check, CO checks.

(2 BB) 4
BB checks, UTG checks, i bet, BB folds, UTG folds, i call.

(6 BB) Q
i check, CO bets, ...

how good/bad is this raise specifically against an unknown?

the purpose was to possibly and rarely fold a better flush and to make a "pro" player make an amazing laydown with 4-x. alternately, it might be to get value from an aggressive player who raised the turn with a worse flush draw.

i also wasn't sure what to do if he three-bet. i think i'm folding but maybe i'm paying 1 BB more to see what he limps with here that has a 4 in it, or that he raises the turn with Q-x or what.

honestly, i think my checkraise is pretty crappy, but i just felt like experimenting. any thoughts?

This play would be so much better with reads.
Without them, it just seems silly. Call and pray he has an ace.

I'm going to say it was very nice.

More an A then a Q or 4. Blah Blah Blah...Trying to steal because he doesn't think you hit anything, blah blah blah.

If I don't see that play 10 times in a session where the guy has Ax or shit, it just isn't a normal 6max 3/6 game.

Don't like it at all, not much value you can get out of this.

At 3/6 I dont think any flush or FH is passing for one bet. I know some of our heads will say "I fold a four here" but in my experience, it is going to showdown. Thats not to say you lose as the A checkraise is a realistic possibility.

So, go on, who won?

How often will an ace call your checkraise there?

How often will _anything_ that you have beat call your raise there?

I think i prefer bet/folding or check/calling.
