$2/$4 hold 'em, ten-handed

game is average, not too loose, not too tight. this hand is an obvious exception. before i did this, i thought about fold equity and i thought i had a decent shot. no reads on individual players, sorry.

i'm UTG with A 8 .
i limp, EP2 limps, ..., MP1 limps, MP2 limps, ..., Button raises, BB calls, i call, EP2 calls, MP1 calls, MP2 calls.

no joke, seven players in a capped pot. i wish this was the norm at my table, but not quite. :-)

Actually, in this size pot, I like it. A lot of people play regardless of pot size. They see a flop get 3-bet, freak out, and fold. The guys that did all the raising PF probably did not connect with this flop. All the other players who came along for the ride could have picked up gutshots, bottome pair, bd draws, and a slew of other hands you want to fold.

Scare them away.

meh. In fact. I think this flop could very likely be capped, which decreases our general odds. I know the pot is big, but honestly, I don't know how likely I am to continue with this hand. Really, I'd just cold-call and look to fold UI on the turn

i know you want to improve your chance of winning, but have you thought about what you're up against?

yes, that's my point. is it possible to genuinely improve my chances of winning by folding hands behind me? do i acquire the lost equity or does another hand? etc.

it's pretty hard to put them on hands. one guy raised on the button and just called a three-b, the big blind three-bet, and the small blind did something similar to limp-reraising by cold-calling-capping.

i think if i fold a better ace than me, that acquires a small amount of equity. i can hit an ace and not be vulnerable to a redraw, for example. or, if i fold a better hand (9-9, J-J, 10-x, etc.) it only helps me when i have the best hand, and i don't think this is really true here.

the only problem i have is that you have few ways of improving and you couild improve and still lose.

if you had some kind of strong draw i would love it...i have to think about it some more

Hmmm...even facing 3 cold, the player on your left is getting 11:1 to draw, and HUGE (well huge for limit anyway) implied odds with all this action. I dont think any hand with a shot folds here, especially in a loose game. I dont think I like the raise.
