Ok I can't figure out how to put this in words and I'm not sure that it makes all that much mathematical since but here goes...

*Similar* to sthief's(sp? 2+2) bankroll theory.

I 3 table all of the time so this works for me. I've been playing 1 table at my bankroll, 1 table 1 limit lower than my bankroll, and 1 table 1 limit higher than my bankroll.

What's this accomplishing?
It's helping me stay "looser" for lack of a better term at the highest limit, while helping me not "nutbar" at the lowest limit. My downswings aren't as bad b/c as we all know if we tilt and are 4 tabling it affects us on all the tables. Well if I lose a big pot/bad beat at the lower limit It doesn't affect me as much (probably b/c less money lost). So I feel as if I've cut my tilting by 1/3. Does this make sense?

I don't know...it just helps me play better. There may even be a better mathematical way to figure out the bankroll for this, other than 300BB for current level = 1 limit up and 1 limit down.

If this doesn't make sense I'm sorry, if anyone feels like this has any merit than maybe you can comment and finish my thoughts.

you can figure out a formula: 300xBB of the highest limit you're playing.

the lower limit doesn't "average out" with the higher limit. if it did, a good run at 3/6 would counteract a bad run at 10/20, etc., and it sure as hell doesn't.

Yeah I'm not saying it makes mathematical sense, it may not.

It just helps me get a feel for next higher level, keeps me grounded, and so far has helped my tilt factor. I feel it has helped overall and let's you kind of take a gradual shot....I dunno, does this make sense only to me?

yeah, i think it only makes sense to you. if you want the same effect without the unnecessary risk, i'd recommend doing the same thing you're doing, but substitute the "higher limit" table for another "lower limit table". that way you're remaning within your BR limitations, and you're also mixing the limits up a bit.

I kinda like that too, I'm probably ok though b/c I use at least 500BB for the current level. If I did only use 300 I would definately do it that way.
