How do set up your databases/filters to deal with shorthanded play?

Specifically, the problem I'm running into goes something like this:

Playing LHE at a 10 handed table. People start leaving and the table becomes short handed. I stay because the big fish is in the seat on my immediate right. I log a couple hundred 2-6 player hands and these are stuck into the DB with all my other 7-10 player hands.

I'm new to PT (but I've done a lot of reading) so correct me if I'm wrong... It seems to me that these hands are messing up my auto-rating stats on other players. I know my VP$IP is 5% lower if I filter out all the 2-6 player hands. So, wouldn't all the other player's stats be messed up too, and thus throwing off the auto-rated categories that people have been put in?

Should I be putting these hands into a separate DB or am I missing something with the filtering? If so, is it possible to move the 2-6 player hands to a new DB? If so, how?

that's a good question, and i actually don't know.

try posting this in the PT forums.

Have you tried to filter out the 2-6 hands and then use the auto-rate function for all players? Just a guess, maybe that'll rerate players with too many short handed hands.

Ya, I think I get what you are saying... on the first tab of the auto-rate screen there is an option where you can "only rate stats for hands with:" and then you can set the number of players at the table. I can set this for 7 or more.

I guess that makes me wonder why the 2-6 player hands are in this DB at all it seems like it's just wasted data if I'm filtering it out of all my analyses. Wouldn't I be better off putting these hands into a different DB with all 4-6 player hands and another with 2-3 player hands?

I'm gonna try posting this in the PT forum and see what they say.

Makes sense.

Not sure of how practical multiple DB would be when playing though, I like having all I can on gametime+.

I'm not sure how the program react with the filter out option. Does it import all hands anyway or just those that fits the filter. Good question, never verified that.

So, far FCP is more helpful than the Poker Tracker Forums. Not a good sign. Maybe I'll try 2+2... doh!
