getting check-raised isn't the end of the world, and it's not going to happen as often as you think. Chances are that 10 was just as scary to him as it was to you. For example, he could be playing that hand the exact same way with JJ, AKs, 56s, 57s, etc. Bet it.
being checkraised isn't the end of the world, but if you suspect your opponent will do it with both hands that you beat and hands you don't (meaning betting and folding to a checkraise is bad), then checking is correct. this way, you lose the minimum to a 10 and can sometimes induce a bluff from air hands also.
this becomes wa/wb on the turn, checking >>> betting.
