if you had the first pick in a fantasy draft who would you take and why. top three players have to be manning, s. alexander, and tomilson. so if you had a number one pick who would you pick. i think manning should be the pick.

i say this because imo i think there are more quality running backs who can score points than there are quaterbacks that score big points in fantasy football.

let me know what you guys think

are you playing in a 6point passing td league or the more standard 4.
how many teams are in the league (When is your 2nd pick)
dEv~
When he says the first pick I think he means the first pick. I play in a TD heavy league and I think I'm in the majority that will take Peyton...no second thoughts to it. 49 TD's!!!....if he gets 3/4 of that he still could lead the league.

While Peyton would be a great choice, you still need good receivers to throw the ball to. While a running back can single handily can change the game. However, neither of these backs have that quality, so go with Peyton.

depends on the league. In most leagues, I couldnt disagree more. In the majority of leagues, where pass TDs are worth less than run TDs, then LaDanian is the OBVIOUS 1st pick. Even in these leagues though, Manning is still a top 5 pick.

If your league gives you the same points for TD passes as rushing TDs then by all means take manning #1.

most QB's arent picked until later rounds........if you take LT or alexander you could still pick up a quality starter like mcnabb in the second or third round. however on one of my teams i picked manning first, and was able to scoop corey dillon in the second round.

Wow, ive always wanted to play in a 6 team league tongue.gif
seriously though nice picks.

But in most normal leagues where passing tds are 4pts and rushing/rec are 6 you have to go LT, alexander, then choose priest/peyton/edge

6pt passing leauges i take manning #1, LT 2, culpepper 3

I agree with the above posters, if you get 6 pts for TD, Manning is the way to go.

If you are in a league that is 10-12 teams and you get 4 points for TD passes, Manning is a huge mistake at number 1. First, last year might have been an abberation. His TD totals before last year tended to hover in the upper 20s and low 30s. Certainly great numbers, but they show that last year might have been a statsitical fluke. Having Stokley, who was Mannings comfort guy last year, hurt to start the year won't help.

Second, if you take Manning first in a 10-12 team league, your next pick is in the 20-24 park. Already having participated in a couple of drafts you are looking at all of the following likely being off the board when you pick: Thomlinson, Holmes, Alexander, J. Jones, K. Jones, McGahee, S. Jackson, A. Green, L. Jordon, Barber, Davis, R. Johnson, J. Lewis, McCallister, Portis, E. James.

That leads me to question your original comment about quality backs. If you take manning first, you then are looking at one of the rookies (brown, benson etc), one of the platoon type guys (denver, cleveland etc) or guys like dunn and westbrook, who though nice backs, are certainly nothing special in terms of fantasy.

So ask yourself, are you better off with Thomlinson at 1, the best available player at 20-24 and qb like kerry collins, trent green, somebody from a strong offensive team in the later rounds vs. Manning and Dunn? Pretty easy answer in my book. Good luck with your season.

in the league i play in running backs are more valuable. so Ladainian Tomlinson got picked first. Manning didn't go until the number 5 pick.

this is about the norm. I would actually take manning #4 in a "traditional" league after LT, Shaun, and Priest. McGahee makes an excellent #5 pick....he is a great goalline back. Look for him to have 13-17 TDs this year if Losman doesnt suck big floppy donkey penis.

Manning went #2 in our league, but we play with 2 QB's so that they are almost as important as running backs. I took Daunte at 8 and picked up Dominick Davis on the way back (13)

Honestly, its a 5 team league. It doesnt matter unless you start 12 players a week you will have all-star teams and it will be luck of the draw. And if someone gets hurt the free-agent pool will be deep.

Last night we did our draft 12 teams, 1qb 2rb 1rb/wr 2wr 1wr/te 1te 1d 1k and 6 bench spots. Its our own personal brand of torture, but always a good time when someone gets hurt

-tatum bell is too high. he isnt even starting.

-steven jackson is going to be a monster this year for the rams. he is starting and will probably get most of the goal line carries.

-T. gonzo and a. gate over Javon Walker?? no way

-deshaen foster isn't even going to start for the panther. Davis is getting the carries, but I prefer to stay away from RB's that have good 2,3 Rb's.

-others similar to the panthers RB's are the vikings with bennett, moore, and williams

-i dont even see N. Burlenson in there, he is going to be a sleeper, and so is Robinson ::#2 WR:: for the Vikings::: Culpepper will have atleast 33 passing TD's.

this is weird because all the fantasy teams i have are in a 12 team league, where a lot of #2 Wr's and lower QB's come into play. your team is going to be full of stars since theres only 6 teams.

when it comes to playing fantasy football, I always end up doing well since I abuse free agency. I think that's the key to win a league. every week, you have to pick up players that might just have a big week or two then drop them...etc.

these QB's might breakout this year or will serve as solid back ups in a 12 team league : warner, palmer, aaron brooks, harrington, j.p. losman

if your league lets you carry a lot of bench players make sure you pick up: larry johnson ::Even if you don't have holmes::..and maybe derrick blaylock since curtis martin is getting older.

#2 Wr's that might have good numbers: marcus robinson, t. houshmandzadeh, mark clayton ::currently #3, but will move up to #2 in a few weeks:::, lee evans, porter, curry ::#3::, T calico, d. driver, larry fitzgerald, k. colbert

this years T.E. Antonio gates might be B. Troupe from the Titans. He is very young and had a solid year last year. wait for him to blow up at TE

teneight

ps. if you are in a 12 team league, or any league and you have a so so #2 RB in your line up, make sure you pick up Willie Parker from the steelers for the first week or two. he is starting and has been really impressive. He will get the goal line carries as well. Watch out for him to have a first BIG week. Pick him up, i did. I'm even starting him over Lamant jordan since he is playing against N.E. and the raiders will look to pass more with those WR's. GO RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
