Typical small stakes limit hold em game. Approximately 4-5 players see a flop. Mix of tight/loose players. Mostly passive.

What hands (if any) do you open limp with from:

1) EP
2) MP (early MP and late MP may change)
3) LP
4) SB

None.

I hate limping in when first into a pot. I'm a raiser, through and through.

Except when in early position, I have pocket aces, and I am fairly certain it will be raised behind me, so I can re-raise it. You called it passive though, so this is unlikely. 8)

Limping from LP should be out of the question with the exception of small and maybe medium pairs. Sometimes it may be appropriate to do it with weakish, offsuit broadway cards like J/Q or medium suited connectors like 9/10s.

I disagree with the idea of never open limping from early position. In most low limit games I think there's a lot of value to be gained with certain limping hands.

From UTG-MP1, in semi-loose games (basically all .5/1 and 1/2Limit games) I'll limp with the following hands. All are assuming there will be generally be 4-5 to the flop.

A. Pocket 8's and lower pocket pairs

B. A-rag suited

C. Suited Connectors 7-8, 8-9, and 9-10...

D. K-J offsuit, K-10 suited.

I'll generally raise anything better, and fold anything worse.

I fold the KJoff and probably AJoff in a full ring in EP.

The only offsuit broadways im entering the pot with in EP are ones im raising, ie: KQ, AQ or AK. KQ i may occasionally limp with.

Weak suited broadways are viable limps from EP (ie: 10/Qs) in loose games. Same is true for A/x suited.

Small pairs are also limps from EP in loose, passive games only.

That's about it.

I disagree about hands like K/J off. I think those should be folded in EP, unless the game is incredibly passive where you almost never see a preflop raise. I also fold 10/joff in MP though.

I agree with folding those hands listed as opposed to limping with them, but why not raise? Raising does so many things for you...I hate limping. jesus and I are like two peas in a pod when it comes to this... 8)
