ok, so you're in MP with an AK offsuit.
You raise, and everyone folds but the BB who calls.
flop is junk, like 2 7 9 rainbow.
The BB bets. You...?
I've been raising, hoping for a freecard, and thinking maybe I have the best hand. The pot is real small though so I feel like folding may be better with a weaker hand like KQ or something, not sure though.
If you raise and get 3 bet, I'm assuming you call the flop and fold the turn if you dont improve?
How about if you get 3 bet, call, a 10 comes on the turn (new suit, no 2 flush on the board) and the BB checks...

Do you know anything about the BB? Barring no reads, I always thought it was a raise, but maybe I am wrong. :?

I used to raise for a free turn.
I then started to realize that i dont want to pay a big bet for that pot for two streets if i miss the turn anyways, especially with so many players either 3betting the flop or gaybetting the turn unimproved meaning you'll often pay _more_ to show it down by raising the flop than by just calling.
On the plus side, if they lead the turn and i hit an over, i can raise and get two big bets as opposed to one, which is all you'd get if you connected with it and it was checked to you.
I'd rather pay 1 small bets now and fold UI on the turn.
If someone is leading out with a draw, it's a small enough pot that i won't feel horrible about it.
Against tougher competition who may lead out to represent low cards, i will raise. Against typical players at the limits i play, I'll call the flop and fold the turn UI.
