Anyway to get away from this hand?

Any way to play it differently?

My stats set as : VPIP/preflop raise%/aggrefactorflop/#hands

Villian : 59.5/.9/1.9/116

*loose/passive/aggressive

I figured I would have to pay off a better hand, non scary board really, so I thought I could minimize loss by just calling turn, and check calling, perhaps he would bluff, if i lose bet on river, oh well, I don't like my hand that much.

Better to push in on turn, and why?

Anyone folding on turn or river? I think that's virtually impossible considering villian and considering limit I'm at. though, the mini raise on a good sized bet is usually strength...

Anyway, enough typing by me, to the hand ....

I think you can possibly get away from trips here.

There really isn't anything on this board to semi-bluff,and your opponent is staring right at possible trips on the board on a nothing pot. Why would he really make a play at the pot with less than trips?

Also, the miniraise on the turn bet, that's a huge sign of strenght. You bet at good amount on the flop, and he just raised the minimum amount. That's like he doesn't want to scare you away, but keep you in. He knows that you will be commited on the river and yet still pushes in. So he wasn't mini raising for a free showdown, and that's not really a bluff bet.

Then again, you described his play as somewhat aggressive post flop, and he was kind of a short stack at the table, so you may just have to pay him off, shrug it off if your trips aren't best, and move on to the next play.

BTW, I realize im responding to my own post smile.gif Any other opinions about this hand, or was it pretty much standard?

I like it.

(So what did he have?)

Well, in my opinion, there are only 4 hands he could have that have you beat: K 6, Q 6, 9 6, and 6 4. Now, if he's an aggressive opponent (and I dunno, I've never played PokerStar's $1.00BB), he could have a 9 and figured you might be trying something. He might also be paranoid (though I doubt that, he's aggressive, right?) of a flush draw, so he could be attacking with a pair of nines. Overall, I don't see how you can really get away from this hand, a minimum raise at these blinds (so I've read) don't seem to indicate the kind of strength one thinks it would...:-)

Ur either outkicked or he has an overpair. With the short stack its hard to decipher. I'll guess overpair but for some reason I keep seeing A6.

blink i think this is one of those "NL" moments where you may have to lose a biggish pot w/ your trips.

by the way you are responding to your own post it sounds like he had a pair and flopped a set or maybe had A6 or something.

Trips is hard to get away from on that kinda board, especially with type of opponent. Meh

villian's play is interesting. smooth call to min raise? i understand min raising can show strength, but in this spot raising any amount would show strength after smooth callin the flop. its obvious that 4 was no help to either of you, unless he limped with 64 or 44.

i can think of two other reasons he'd min raise: 1) he was tryin to bluff w/o losing too much of his stack, 2) he doesn't know what he's doin.

with that kinda read, i'd push on the turn. otherwise, i'd play it just how you did. if he had more chips, you can consider laying it down, but i'd look him up. it's just one of those kinda hands.

I like the river check/call here, as your check has provided an opportunity for a lesser hand to take a stab at the pot, hoping you will fold. You have trips with a better than average kicker though, which you should not (based on the pot odds IMO) fold here. Nice hand. 8)

I wouldn't be suprised if he had 2 pair, and is thinking you don't have a 6. Could have limped with a variety of hands containing a 9 from the CO.
