Should i be playing this hand more aggressively and raise the turn and river.
Or should I just be calling down after opponent bets out at turn after i've capped the flop

(I'm not a Limit player, so please, don't shoot the dummy :-))

It seems unlikely that you'd be beat here. There was only one raise on the flop from the BB, so you're probably not up against Aces or Kings (although I guess he could have it...). Since the flop was capped, you can't really imagine someone calling with 10 10 or QJ (QJ clubs I guess...but that's about it), so the turn seems relatively harmless, and same with the river. In all likelihood, I would guess the guy to have AQ or AK, in which case you could probably get a few more dollars out of him, but then again, I'm just a rookie.

id go for a few more bets on the turn, too.

BB has shown aggression the entire time, so he very well could have it. Do you have any reads on him (ie would he overplay 2 pair like this)?

Without reads, I would slow down into check call mode on the turn. Maybe this is too weak, but against an unknown opponent I would slow down.

I think it is pretty clear MP has a flush draw, or made his donkey gutshot.
NarSARSsist
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking, squeeze out the max you can from him, it just seems very unlikely he hit a set here, and if that guy's crazy enough to raise with 10 10 on a board of A K 6...well... .

P.S. Wrto...you just can't let me be at the top of the forum for a minute can you?...Always gotta put in another response, I HATE YOU! Lol.
pokerplayer24
This player had just showed up to the table a few hands previously so had no reads on him.

Maybe I am being to gunshy here, but the only hands I can see BB playing this hard are AA,KK or AK, with AK being the least likely. What other range of hands are people putting him on?
wrto4556
his raise from the BB and the postflop play is pretty consistant with aces and kings.

i guess its fine...what kind of a read do you have on the guy? Because there are more combinations of AK than AA and KK
amarillotg
to tell the truth i play it the exact same. when he 3-bets the turn thats pretty scary after you showed willingness (not sure if thats a word) to help cap the river.

if he was lag then i would cap the turn and only call if he led the river. against some regular jobber playing 2/4 i play it just like you did.
WestcoastCanuck
I'm not married to my check/call line. I'm hesitant to jam this turn because I know most players would play AA or KK this way, but im not so sure they would play AK this way. The longer I play lower limit holdem though, the more I would advocate jamming the turn.... (I've seen some morons have a similar line to this with QQ or JJ).

Looking for revenge for that "I hate you!" remark? Lol. Just gotta prove me wrong dont'cha?

I guess the reason why I'm thinking that they don't need Aces or Kings to blast away like this is from some of the prior posts I've read about what people play with . Then again...I guess it shouldn't surprise me even if they did have 10 10, lol. It's true that they never did stop betting, but I mean, with AK, can they really stop betting? Heck, from what I've read in these forums in the past, AQ or even AJ wouldn't surprise me either, lol :-). I mean, they flopped top pair with top or almost top kicker. Turn card gave them a straight draw in case they were behind, it's not too bad, wouldn't ya say?

So what do you think, pokerplayer24?
amarillotg
a lot of 2/4 players would play AK this way.

Very true. This is making me lean towards the turn raise, then check call mode (ie the OPs original line).

You know, the more I think about it, the more I want to look at it from the BB's eyes. Let's say the BB has AK. He raises preflop, and nobody reraises him. The flop comes AK6, and everyone's jamming it, so it's hard to put the 10 on the turn as a "bad card" for him, and the same for the 2. How can he believe those cards helped his opponents? AA or KK (or even a 10 10) surely would have reraised him preflop. So really, the only hand that coulda beat him was a 66 (makes sense to call, didn't have to re-raise). Who knows, maybe in some distant forum, some guy is posting about his 2/4 experience where he flopped two pair, Aces and Kings, and got beat by trip 6s. Lol.
Actually, I would think that to the BB, the same applies for AQ (and on a more unlikely basis, AJ). If your opponent has AK, wouldn't he reraise you preflop (along with those other possible has-you-beat hands, like AA, KK, or heck, 10 10). If anything, the 10 on the turn looks like it helps, because if you were indeed behind, it actually helps you by giving a straight draw.

Cap the turn, check/call the river.

I would guess he has two pair here prob AK would be right thing to call him on. I would definately play thios hand more aggressively, cant possibly put this guy ona str8 esp a one ended to hit on the turn, him three betting on the turn tells u this guy scared of a club coming off so he prob thought u were being aggressive witht he clubs draw so he continues on the river too, thinking u didnt hit a club.

I'm glad recognition has finally dawned upon you :-) .

Edit: Wow wrto, I managed to hold the top three spots for a while, the first one I've posted has been up for 30 minutes and counting!

Edit: Edit: Dang...lost it at 40 minutes....Actuary, I hate you! lol.

So does anyone else think it's a possibility that he might not even have a monster? (See my previous post)

Oh yeah, are we gonna get the answer any time soon?
