low buy in($100 to $400 max) online tables. I have read most of the old literature on NL but it is mostly geared to higher stakes or games where the buyin to blinds ratio is a lot different, so although the overall theory might be correct I don't beleive they give you the ability to maximize your profit. Any suggestions?

Try Mastering No Limit Hold'em by Russell Fox or the McEvoy book...it's called the New Player's Guide or something like that.

I'm with you on this one. I multi the .50/1.00 and 1/2 on stars and the only book i've ever read is Cloutier's Championship NLHE which isn't exactly useful. Any help finding a book geared to these types of game would be much appreciated.

no, i think skoal_dip was talking about no limit hold 'em with .50/$1 blinds and $1/2 blinds, not .50/$1 limit or $1/2 limit.

definitely, definitely, definitely recommend "getting started in hold 'em" by ed miller.

again, you're welcome.

Yeah, this is the only entire book dedicated to what you're asking. Although aseems suggestion also has a nice section on NL.

I do own this book, but I haven't really gotten to reading it yet, so I can't tell you whether it's any good.

personally, i'm not a big fan of the russell fox book.

i don't know if my opinion has much weight or is credible enough, though. i don't own it, but i just spent about half hour skimming it and reading some parts in detail at the bookstore.

i do remember thinking multiple times that this book is filled with errors. just turned me off, honestly.

but again, i don't know how much water my opinion holds since i didn't read the whole thing.

yeah, i was hesitant to make that post because i saw that book so long ago. honestly, i don't remember any details or what specific errors i came across, but you might search 2+2's publications forum because i also remember reading a thread around the same time about those same errors in the book.

Eh, maybe I'll read that one next. Then we'll see.

Doyle's section on NL hold'em has plenty of good technical info. Use it as a foundation

Just got it yesterday. Slow reaction time I know. Anyways, much appreciated.

Just ask me questions, I'd write a book, but got no time.

Since this thread popped back up....

I finished the Russel Fox book...

It wasn't bad... but it also wasn't anything I really didn't know already. But if you're going in pretty fresh, it's not bad. You definitely need to adjust their style to the game your in though. They play very tight and raise quite a bit preflop. Which in live games is ok, but online, if I try raising 4x + 1x per limper... I will never get called in the FT games. So it just takes a lil adjustment. But for the most part, it's solid advice that couldn't really hurt. But nothing new... you can pretty much figure it all out if you read enough forums with decent info.

this is not a good foundation for the limits you're playing

this is definitely a gap in the market though... in the interim, search for Smash's NL theory on this forum
