Hello, I just wanted to start a thread for people that know about casino's in the wisconsin area that offer poker. So if you know any place that offers poker, drop a line of the location, casino, and what is provided at the casino.

That would be great if we could have someplace to go to check out what casino's are offering what in each state.

I'll start it off:

Oneida Bingo and Casino in Greenbay, Wi.

Play Texas Hold'em, Seven Card Stud and Omaha.

Our non-smoking Poker Room is open 24 hours a day.

Betting begins at $2-$4 with no limit.

I turn 21 in 1.5 months and was wondering where in the hell I could find some games in my own state...thx for the post and I'll post more as I begin my conquest of local casinos in Wisconsin
KDawgCometh
are there any around madison, racine, or milluakee, as I'll be moving back to the northern burbs of chi-town in june/july. Green Bay is just a little too far into packer country, lol

yeh I hear ya. I wish there was some place closer that has no limit play. The closest your goin to get is limit hold'em at Potawatomi bingo and Casino in milwaukee.

There opening up a new casino in Kenosha, an extension to the dog track so I hope they will have no limit play there. Really wish there was some place close that has weekly No limit tournaments.

Let me post this in bold so people can see when someone is posting important info.

Potawatomi in Milwaukee

Limit Hold'em play only, they don't have No limit
$2/4

They have Omaha, Stud and Pot limit is on Tuesdays
Hoopieman
If your in the Chicagoland area, you can always play at either the Wednesday tourney at Holleywood casinio ($150 buy in) in Aurora or drive down to Harrah's in East Chicago ($220 buy in) . Trump also holds 3 tourneys a week, Mon & Weds, are $100 buy in's w/re-buy's and Thursday is the $100 WPT Qualifer for the Belligio.
Drum Infected
Thanks alot for the info Hoopieman. I didn't know that there was a place closer to me like this. Greenbay was my closest hope, and I live close to mil, so props for the info!

Is there a paper or some place you can go to, to know about feature tournaments there in the Chicago land Hoppieman?

This thread has been definately payin off, maybe other peeps from different states with make a thread just like this

The Potawonami one in Milwaukee is okay, but I went there during the week after Christmas, and had to wait almost 4 hours for a seat!

Besides that, the dealers were all talkative and friendly, and the players for the most part were very respectful and laid back.
AceOfSpaiDs
i turn 21 real soon and potawatomi is only about 20 minutes from me (Milwaukee is real close) and I was wondering to here what kinda games they run. I'm also glad they don't have No Limit cuz I'd prolly get real drunk on my birthday and lose a lot of money icon_suit_spade.gif

Which bars? I used to go to school at UW-Madison. Probably coming back up for a few days in May, if not earlier to visit some people. Would be fun to play cards while I'm up there

Cuenique holds a tourney every sunday and wednesday....25 bucks.

They cap it at 80 on wednesdays. Usually about 30 show up on sundays.

It's soft. If you are any good you can cash.

This is a bar is madison right?

Yeah it's a pool hall. They throw toppers over the pool tables. You don't have to be 21. Easy going atmosphere.

800 in chips 5/10 blinds go up every 25 minutes i think. it's not bad.

I live in NE wisconsin, outside Green Bay.... I play a lot at Oneida. It's nice there, considering there isn't really anything else in the area.

They have yet to run a stud game... because there is no interest... and there are occassional 5/10 round by round games of Hold Em and Omaha H/L with kill. These are mainly the older people who have money to blow.

No limit tables run there almost all the time. At least one is running from noon til 5-6 AM the next day. Not too bad, it's restricted to a $100 buy in.
3/6 tables are running all the time.

They just came up with a weekly tournament at 6 pm Wednesday nights that has just exploded I guess. It's like $65 for 1800 in chips.... restricted to 100 people. I was playing NL last night and they said that the registration starts at 4 pm.... with active table players getting first dibs on early registration. Supposedly, if you're not their by 1-2 pm.... forget about gettin in. They have been rejecting like 80-100 people each night so far so I am hoping they set up another night.

Menominee Casino in Keshena runs poker as well... not sure on the web page name.... but you can look up MCBH on dogpile.. and it comes right up. That's like 30-40 minutes west of Green Bay outside of Shawano.

They have been running tournaments there as well.....

Sunday
$30 - $5…… registration at 1, starts at 2…. $10 rebuy
Bonus chips…. For every hour of live action beforehand…. $100 tourney chips per hour.

Monday
$50+5…… $20 rebuys
registration at 5….. starts at 6... nulti table.

Wednesdays…….
$40+5 no rebuys……….
single table tourney only registration at 5… starts at 6.

It's kinda out in the sticks....... in the middle of the woods. But might be safer than Oneida in Green Bay.... because the bank next door to the Mason Street Poker room was robbed once, and attempted at a few other times since new year's.

Just so you guys know... the poker room at Oneida isn't at the Main Casino.... on Highway 172 across from the airport here...... The poker room is at the Mason Street Casino.... you take highway 41 north past the main casino and exit on mason street..... head west 2 blocks.. and it's right on Mason Street... just past wal mart. They also just started serving alcohol and decent food there from 11 am - 2 am.

Hope that helps... anyone else in the area.... I know of some bars running tourneys as well.... cheaper buy-ins.... I know its not 100% legal... but it seems that since Oneida opened up poker, the law hasn't been cracking down on these things.

There is a huge bar tourney on monday nights... out east of the city.... Bar that runs tourneys with actual paid dealers... real nice... like $30-$40 buy in.... 50-80 players... first place paying out about $1200. Real nice side games as well.

I heard that some off duty officers actually play in that game from time to time..... It's like 10 minutes east of Green Bay.

Good luck guys.....

Any idea when they are opening this casino in Kenosha?

I went to the Ho-Chunk poker room in the Dells (when it was open), played 2-4, 5-10, and 10-20 there, as well as a tourney or two, and it was pretty nice. I saw recently they haven't renovated the room even though poker is shut down. Do they have any plans to re-open it?

I think in 2006 they will open. Every day that passes they lose money, since the dogtracks aren't picking up any loot.

I don't think Ho-chunk will be having poker anytime soon, but Potawonami has Poker and that's in milwaukee

Update.... Potawatomi in milwaukee has No Limit Now!

Every Sunday
lordchadwick
I played in the Sunday afternoon toury there. They had 3/6 games before hand and those people got first dibs at signing up.

I had a good time and there is some dead money at the table. Very nice poker room manager and the dealers were, for the most part, ok.

They only have 6 tables in this poker room, so not a huge tourny at all.
wisky_VI
Soon the Oneida poker room will be open on Mondays. I believe at that time tourneys will be Mondays and Thursdays.

Was up there last weekend, the room is nice compared to the other Indian casinos in WI. Enough space to not be cramped and I had no problems with the dealers or anything else for that matter. Lost $200 but that's my problem !

Saturday night I went to Potowatomi (sp) in Milwaukee for the first time. It was a pretty nice card room, though the guys running it were a bit clueless.

I don't have exact numbers, but it looked like there were about 15 tables. They were spreading one or two 1-5 stud games, several 2/4 Limit Hold 'Em games, a few 5/10 and 10/20 Limit Hold 'Em games, and two or three 3/5 blind NL Hold 'Em with $200 max buy-in. Supposedly they also spread Omaha and Omaha 8, but this was saturday night, and heavy traffic, so they mostly stuck to Hold 'Em.

Some of the play was exceptionally bad - players showing down the losing hand after the winning hand, or not understanding the concept of kickers (one guy didn't understand how his A10 lost to AK with two aces on board), but you could get people to fold every now and then. I ended up a 4 or 5 hour session + $70 playing 2/4 limit (which is far from my wheel house) so I was happy.

Bump.

Also going to Madison in December.

Any updates?

Thanks.

Don't go to Wisconsin in December.

all the pool halls around town hold $25 dollar tourneys on sunday. For sure the Green Room and Cuenique. Other than that, the closest place to play "legally" near madison in Potowatimi(spelling) in Milwaukee or these Charity Casino nights in Rockford. To get info about the rockford ones... its rockfordcharitablegames.com. That is it. There used to be a place in town that had a good 5-10 or 10-20 mixed game but I dont know where it is held anymore. I just graduated from UW so.. Havent been there since since august.

Poto remodeled. 17 tables now. Call in up to two hours before you check in to get on the lists. 414-847-7605

$30-60 limit is going now, games are pretty sick. People play it like it is still $2-4. Other limit games are $2-4, 3-6, 4-8, 5-10, 10-20, 30-60.

$2-5nl ($200-600 min-max) and sometimes $5-10 ($400-1000).

Still have 7 stud and omaha hi-lo.

We convinced our 7 stud dealer to run a razz game once, but they aren't "properly trained" for it so it only lasted about an hour before the floor staff shut it down.

Hi, guys. At tworags.com we have listings in our guide for four casinos in Wisconsin:

Bad River Lodge
http://www.tworags.com/BadRiverLodgeCasinoandConvention.html

Hole-in-the-Wall
http://www.tworags.com/HoleInTheWallCasinoandHotel.html

Menominee
http://www.tworags.com/Menominee.html

St. Croix Casino & Hotel
http://www.tworags.com/StCroixCasinoAndHotel.html

Unfortunately, we have very little info for these rooms. If you guys can provide us with any information such as games spread, wait times, tournaments played, etc., we'll update the listings for these and any other rooms in WI that we don't have. Also, if you can send us pictures or write trip reports or reviews (you'll see links at the bottom of the pages) that would be great. We'll start by pulling info from this thread!

We do have much more substantial info for the bigger casinos such as the ones in Vegas. Also, if you know the room managers and want to put them in touch with us, they can have their own logins whereby they can add flyers, tournament info and promos themselves. You can see an example of this at:

http://www.tworags.com/ChumashCasinoResort.html (see the manager's corner section in the top right).

So in summary, we're striving to be the definitive collection of this type of info on the web. We need real players to help us out, especially for the smaller casinos and for places like WI. It would be great if some of you can help us out. In fact, we're running a promotion whereby we'll pay $2 per trip report or room review -- see http://www.tworags.com/article_25.html.

* You can see a typical user myhome page at: http://www.tworags.com/home/lakong. The nice thing about posting your reviews and trip reports on the site, is that it becomes your poker archive and friends and family can read about your experiences all in one place.

Thanks,

Scot

Potowatomi update:

Same as in my previous post.

Played in January on my birthday, and dropped $1500 in about 30 minutes. Lost with AA, AA, and a nut flush to a boat. All on the river. Both AA were cracked by backdoor flushes.

Played again today. Bought in for $400. Worked it up to $530 in half an orbit. Forgot to straddle so I just call utg with QQ. Table has been playing fast, figured a raise was imminent from someone in late position. 4 players to the flop. Flop is 3,4,6 rainbow. BB bets $35. I raise to $105. Calls. Turn is a 5. I've played this guy many times, and figured all he calls the raise with is an overpair or open ended straight draw. Turn is a 8. Checks, which sets off warning bells. I have no idea where I am. I figure the only way to win is to confuse him. I bet $95, raises me all in. Other players start talking about the board, and calling hands out loud. This angers the bb, so I think he is still on a draw. I shove. Turns over 78. Says I didn't bet enough on the flop to "give him odds to fold". Whatever. Bad shove on my part, bad call on his on the flop. Life goes on.

I switch tables. I buy in for $300. I get AK early and raise to $25. 2 callers. Flop is AJ2 rainbow. I bet 80, one calls. Turn is a K. I bet $125 figuring he has AJ, he raises me all in. I give a crying call to see he has Q10.

I figure i'll take another 6 months off.

Tom.

Poto update, for any who still care.

5-10 limit has gone the way of the buffalo. 4-8 and 6-12 are the new 5-10.

30-60 limit still insane. Some kid sat down a few weeks ago with $500, first time in the room, and ran it up to 9k and left. Hasn't been seen since. tell them where you got it son.

10-20 is rare, only 2 days a week or so.

30-60 starts on tuesday at noon. ran at 2 tables (feeder and main) from noon to 11pm. playing 5 handed at 2am when I left.

3rd man walking rule is now being enforced. you'll be racked and pulled if you are the third man after 10 minutes.

you have to play one orbit before taking a dinner break.

lots of new dealers, most suck, but blackjack won't take them back, so we're stuck with them.

recently more chicago guys than usual.

not as many nl feeders as in the past, usually 2-4 nl tables with a list.

promotion going now: hit trip 7's and get an entry to a drawing on 7-7-07 at 7:00 am for 7 grand prizes of $7,777 and a few at $777.

i'm up about 2k in the last 3 weeks.

what a runnaaa (sp) introduce yourself sometime. i'm on 3-5nl usually from 8pm-3am midweek. My name is Tom D, ask the floor and they'll point me out if I am there.

hi all feel this thread could do with a bump as i'm gonna be going to madison for 10 days from the 20th july and want to play a bit of pokie while over in the states. not really interested in traveling to a casino, so a local bar or private club (if you have them over there) that hosts nl holdem tournies would be perfect buy in $25- $50. Thanks in advance for any posts related to this. icon_clap.gif

I can't even begin to count the amount of times i've completely raped Potowatomi session after session.

If you are good at poker, and like money, then you should never leave the Potowatomi Poker Room.

(even though i'm making more money playing online than I am live nowadays)
