Hand from Noble, so I'm writing it out.

Only raed is that UTG+1 checks and calls a lot, not too much raising. But he has been up (only a few BB) in the 40 or so hands that I watched him.

2/4 6-max

Hero is UTG with 9 icon_suit_club.gif 9 icon_suit_diamond.gif

Preflop:
Hero Raises, UTG+1 calls, 4 folds.

Flop: Pot is 4sb (K icon_suit_club.gif A icon_suit_heart.gif 2 icon_suit_spade.gif )
Hero Bets, UTG+1 calls

Turn: Pot is 3 BB (8 icon_suit_club.gif )
Hero Bets, UTG+1 calls

River: Pot is 5BB (3 icon_suit_spade.gif )
Hero checks, UTG+1 checks

Final Pot: 5BB

This is kind of a confusing hand for me. On the flop, I'm going to lead out after raising UTG almost every time. I don't really see a problem with that. I may fold to a raise about 25% of the time.

The turn is where I'm not sure where to go. For one thing, I may have the best hand. He could call two cold with plenty of pocket pairs, and maybe even JJ or QQ and be willing to fold it. However, someone calling two cold could definitely have a weak A or even a strong A and would be waiting to raise on the turn.

First, what do you guys think of leading the flop? And second, what about the turn? River check too weak?

This is one of those really marginal hands where I would like to make more money (or save more money depending on whether I win or lose of course).

Thanks as usual,

obviously a wa/wb scenario... especially tough to know where you stand against a calling station, but i would probably bet/fold the turn and check/call the river. calling stations don't fold. interested to hear what others have to say though. i've been trying to decide what the best line is for the river given the way this hand has played out for a while now. still not sure.

seems good.

I think you played it fine my only change would be to check the turn. If he bets into you you can be fairly sure your beat. If he checks then you get to see the river for free. He likely has an ace weak kicker or King weak kicker all of which have you beat.

the river is tough I'd say check it but if he bets just call. You have another option which is to check raise the river which might be good but your read would lead me to beleive he'd call you down anyway with a better hand.

I'm personally a bigger fan of betting the turn and folding to a raise rather than checking the turn and check/calling the river. I think if I check the turn, he bets at me with any two cards. I'm pretty sure I would. If I raise PF, bet the flop, then check the turn, I think that screams lower pocket pair than the board. Either way, I think I get beat up on if I don't bet this turn.

Plus, I don't want to give him a free card if he has something like 10-Js or QJ.

This is definitely a wa/wb situation here, but my line of thinking leans towards keeping the lead at least until the river (but not inclusive of the river). I would LOVE to be able to make JJ or QQ drop out here or even KQ. I just think it's too weak to check/fold the turn.

Or that he thinks you're weak.

I like the play, but check/folding is okay too.

Exactly. If you're check/folding the turn after that, you have a giant leak in your game. That check looks really weak and anything, and I do mean ANYTHING, is betting.

So do you bet the turn and fold to a raise?

Every time. Especially if he's passive.

I agree with bet/folding the turn.
